I’m just opinionating here but I’d say that driving jobs that pay by the hour with OT after 40, are a lot less stressful than jobs that pay by the mile .
I was always stressed out because everyone I had to deal with always cost me money when they screwed me around and wasted my time .
When I got paid by the hour, I was a lot less stressed out .

second is while the company will say “sure, we’ll hire you”, their insurance company or underwriter will say no ******* way.
my insurance company considers anyone on the drug as a no hire, don’t matter what the dot or your pcp/treating doc says, I like many others have to abide by what my insurance and underwriter says to do.wis bang, southbound95, Dockbumper and 1 other person Thank this. -
Curious if you'll be able to "sleep like a baby for 8 hours" straight while parked at a Hit & Run Truckstop AND/OR hooked to a Reefer?!
Few Drivers are able to maintain a "at home schedule" whilst O.T.R. and not many After Training Drivers go straight away to a Local Driving Gig whereupon Said Driver can possibly maintain a semblance of "normal schedule".
As to the medication, I know not and defer to the Professionals having submitted their knowledges.
DRUGS, Prescribed/Otherwise have been and will continue to be problematic for unknown numbers of Truck Transport Drivers and the motoring Public.
-->From MY Trucking Experiences, I may well have been at variable times, a highly potential receiver of Anti-Anxiety Medication.
There were Uncountable times when O.T.C./Script(s) may well have been a significant assist in "calming down" as well acquiring REST FULL SLEEP.<--
Thanks For Your Thread and I, for One, Hope You're Able To Successfully Enter & Maintain A Productive Trucking Lifestyle!

southbound95,
There have been an uncountable, therein unknown number of Truck Drivers who had been able to complete a Driving School and step straight into a local gig.
MY Experience(s) were not.
I'm familiar with east greensboro having lived mainly in west greensboro since late '89.
Had to map Duffy and they're where I figured, across from a cigarette factory as well a State Trooper/DMV facility.
THANKS AGIN'!

AP GREENSBORO.
Today a local business learned that their prior knowledge of their driver's prohibited medical condition led to their insurance company enforcing the provisions of their policy and has withdrawn their coverage for the last January's multiple fatality accident. The company has filed for bankruptacy and has closed down. The area has lost 50 jobs. -
I have diagnosed social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and I’ve been driving for 16 years and have almost 1,000,000 miles. Not over the road mind you, regional food delivery. I’ve never taken benzo’s, I take Lexapro, an SSRI. But I enjoy driving and find it relaxing. Every anxiety is different. Some require different medication‘s than others. But just having anxiety does not preclude you from having a good career in this job.

I think you are doing the right thing and trying to go down the right path.
I can't tell you much about insurance companies and prior prescriptions and that sort of thing but for some people driving is actually relaxing and you may or may not have the stresses other people have. For some people other types of work are definitely more stressful
The main issue that I would caution you about is your sleep schedule. I don't know that it's realistic going OTR that you can sleep every night the same hours.
Of all the things in trucking that you will experience, that will be the one that will mess with your health and your body and your mind the most. When your circadian rhythms are thrown off anxiety stress blood pressure awareness energy levels everything is affected.
The other thing is eating processed foods and Truck Stop food. When you add in a disturbed sleep pattern and fatty foods and possibly caffeine Etc it does not benefit your body or mind in any way.
Good luck in your endeavors and I hope you take these things into consideration.southbound95 Thanks this. -
