Do you have a criminal record or any traffic tickets?Last edited: Mar 5, 2016

There' a Pilot truck stop in Corona (or at least there was last time I was there in 2011). If a carrier's recruiter puts up cards in the driver's lounge, they're most likely looking for entry-level drivers. Give those a call.

Try Sysco food service if you are willing to unload a truck by two wheeler one stop at a time. They delive food to restaurants.

Actually... It's not that hard to get a Class A unrestricted CDL without going to school. All you need to do is pass the written test, get a permit, then have access to a qualifying truck and trailer combination and pass the skills test. Really... Now up until recently that truck and trailer could be anything with air brakes and a trailer with air brakes regardless of how it was towed. Say a dump truck with a back hoe trailer would work fine. They have been busy making some changes however, now it has to be a fifth wheel attachment or a restriction is put on your license, they are about to make a transmission restriction soon. If you take the test in an automatic then that will be all you can drive. There are local people who advertise getting you a class A in one day, guaranteed. It costs $450. The guy has a single axle day cab truck with a gas motor and a regular 5 speed transmission. It has air brakes and a 30 foot flatbed trailer... It works, what can I say? It's cheaper than a school. There are any number of local delivery jobs for anyone with a class A that you can get, check Craigslist in your area. Local delivery people do not have to keep logs, they don't get much attention from the diesel cops. Having one of these jobs will get you practical experience driving a truck. There are a number of driver mill trucking companies out there that will hire you with a class A and local experience, you will have to train for a short while with them but they will hire you.. Western Express, USX, and Englund are some names that come to mind. They don't care where you got the class A from. They call the training a "refresher" course. So it is true.. You can get a Class A CDL without going to school and without hiring on with anyone. You can get your DOT medical card just by finding a qualified doctor and making an appointment.

There is a truck stop in Fontana called Truck Town. They are at the Cherry Street exit on I-10. They have a driver board where carriers post driving jobs. CRST has a terminal at that same exit and they hire inexperienced drivers. Swift is another major carrier that hires new drivers. Good Luck.
