I have an enhanced cdl-b with some endorsements. I'd like to upgrade to a cdl-a. I'm hearing so much negative posts on the usual cdl mill companies/schools that accept people without a'lot of money. I'm scheduled to go to C R England on the 20th of August. Even after all the negative posts I'm still thinking about going for C R E. Expedite jobs seem so much harder to get even with the generally lower license qualifications. Any advice would be appreciated.

England wont give you anything other than OTR for the first 90 days (mandatory). The 90 days applies after you are allowed to drive "first seat". Also if your planning on doing something, you have to figure on at least 500 miles per day. Getting your hopes up otherwise will destroy them once you get there. The 500 miles per day is the minimum you must do to cover for the cost of the truck. Only way out of it is to go team driving. Also CR England has pretty much done away with the "company" drivers. They will push you into the lease deal to be able to drive for them.
Yes I used to drive for them.Pat W Thanks this. -
Another item, will depend on how many recent miles you have with your class b license. They will train you for your class A. But there is a expense that they will take out of your pocket either by pay over 6 months or by laying a lien on your credit. Or you can do as I did and just pay for it ahead of time. Be careful of what the recruiter tells you. Alot of mega carriers are pushing for 2-4 months of driving before you can sit in the truck of your own or team. So that 90 days? That may be as much as 7 months of working for them. If you survive with them that long. CR England is notorious for getting rid of drivers in 90 days.

I might as well upgrade my 'b' to an 'a'. My cdl-b miles aren't documented due to my employer being a cut rate scrap metal dealer. The day cab Mack straight truck flatbed was a safety hazard & I was overweight a'lot!! I'll most likely apply to Swift & pay my dues. I have no wife/kids & my overhead is low. I've researched the schooling of the 'megacarriers' & there is a'lot of whining going on by the students. Unlike them my goal is to obtain the 'a' & learn as much as I can in that short time. I'm not at the cdl school to party, watch tv, play on my i phone & complain that I'm not at the Mariott hotel. I'm looking forward to a career in safe OTR driving. I hope I have what it takes. I appreciate the advice. Thanks
