Just wondering and asking because I already have my A permit but I was going to take the road test with a manual single axle dump and tag trailer over 10k, But it has hydraulic brakes. I have my B with airbrakes also. Would I need too take the test with a truck and trailer with airbrakes or could I get away with the truck and trailer with hydraulic brakes?

The test will reflect the vehicle used for the test. It's a new test, not an additional one.
What that means is if taking it in that vehicle you will have two restrictions. No air brakes and no 5th wheel.Roadgeek395 Thanks this. -
Its not a rumor. I have a class A with no restrictions. I rode with someone to take the cdl class a test but he wanted to take in a truck with automatic trans and a truck with no fifth wheel. So after the exam he got a licence with restrictions stating no manaual trans and no fifth wheel. He asked the examiner after the license was issued on how to get the restrictions removed. He clearly stated " next time show up with the type of truck you intend to drive and not have restrictions and you have to retake the whole test from pretrip to road test" So if its just to remove air brake restriction, You will have to retake the whole test. And ill bet that the truck you are talking about with hydraulic brakes and manual has a synchro trans. Not an unsychro like the big trucks

Yes, I have my B with airbrakes already. I drive a triaxle dump with an 18 speed so I'm used too driving a non synchro trans. So your saying I couldnt take my A test with a dump truck because I would have a 5th wheel restrictions?

Oh ok good wasn’t sure. Yeah with the new restrictions, you will have a restriction saying no trucks equipped with 5th wheel. In order to not have any restrictions on class a, you need to take test in tractor and trailer.
