you can go get a job driving a trash truck. it maybe a sticky job that doesn't pay much. atleast you will be home every night. and you may make more then over the road truckers.

I went thru a trucking companies school last summer and got my CDL and my own truck and hit the road solo December 2012. I'm driving reefer with about 6 months experience now. I have a clean driving record (knock on wood) and I would love to be home daily. What's the best way to start looking for a local job in Dallas Texas with my little experience?

Probably I graduated in February and can see why experience is so demanded. I just finished 12 weeks of training and am staying on as a team with my trainer. I enjoy it, home weekly and around 5900 miles a week but I got lucky and fell into a good thing. I don't think I would so local if offered at this point . Good luck though

What do you consider "decent paying"?

I would haveto agree. what would you consider decent pay? new truck drivers don't make very much the in the first years of trucking. now with the natinal hate against truckers. they don't make anything above an average factory workers wage.

hate, the public, and politics. to give some idea about public hate. every 10 years the people hate something different. from 2001 to 2010. we hated middle eastern indians. so before we were done hating them. the politicans had to give the people something new to hate. so after the crash of 2008. they started the hate against truckers. it made it easier to pass laws and regulations to build profitable businesses in security. so i figure over the next few years. they will start the hate against another industry. to drive prices down. to make it more affordable to get control of. the idea is for starting new hate. is so the public doesn't realize what they really up to. once you pull your self out of the circle they keep the public mind in. you will wake up to see what they are really doing...

so some good solid advice. I would go find a job in route delivery. some of them will take the time to train for the job. those kinds of jobs are more into retail stores and they have their own product where they don't have to depend so much on trucking as the main income for the business. don't apply just for a driver position. instead try applying for a general warehouse position. and when the time comes. and they have an abusent driver. you will get a chance to prove your self in that area. just remember, don't say anything that your but can't back up.

thinking of buying my own truck, decent pay would $1000 take home weekly-at least
what do you guys think about contacting brokers directly, instead of working for someone

I strongly discourage newbies from buying a truck. Learn as much as you can about this job through experience as a company driver first, then worry about buying a truck later. That way, if you decide that driving a truck isn't for you, you won't be locked into a contract and stuck with a truck you still have to make payments on.

the reason I went into driving, was to make money, making 600bucks a week isnt what I want, I'd rather take more responsibility, buy my own truck and deal with problems of being a truck owner as they come

but you're absolutely right, buying an expensive truck in the beginning probably isn't for everyone
