...is a red 2012 International ProStar+ 6x4 Sleeper (single berth). It has about 61k miles and is equipped with boxes and racks for flatbedding.

I did a thorough inspection and a short drive around the yard, then re-folded/rolled the lumber tarps to better fit in their storage box and organized all of the cargo securement and protection devices including chains, binders, straps, edge protectors, tarps, and bungees. Everything on the truck appears to be in excellent condition, including the new mattress, upon which I am now sitting with the laptop on the pull out desktop.

Today I also met my fleet manager, who seems like a helpful and friendly guy.

It feels good to be moved into my own space and I am looking forward to getting on the road with my first load assignment, which will likely come in sometime tomorrow.

    Stay safe and have fun.

Congrats on passing your tests and earning your keys to going solo. I've really appreciated your posts describing your trials and adventures. It gives me hope as I'm still grinding gears in school wondering if I'll ever get this right.

Thank you for this thread perpetual. I haven't seen anything like this elsewhere on the web, and it gives great insight into what we can expect. Good luck, take care.

The company found the perfect first assignment for me: a shipper I have already been to and a run toward home with plenty of time to get there.

Left Marshfield this afternoon headed for Amasa, MI to pick up a relay load. And whatever might that load be? You guessed it... Sports Floor! :biggrin_2559: Trailer was preloaded at the shipper, I just needed to inspect the trailer, check the load securement and put some more bungees on the tarp. The load is fairly light at ~27k pounds.

Now in Crystal Falls, MI. Tomorrow I am headed across the Michigan U.P. - the other direction this time - and down across the Mackinac Bridge south toward Toledo then across Ohio and into Pennsylvania, and finally into Maryland. The load delivers Tuesday, 27 March to a new high school located about 30 miles from home. After the delivery I will take some home time.

Felt good to finally be driving the truck without anyone sitting beside me.

    Congratulations, Perpetual! :biggrin_25514:

I've been following along throughout your exploits, though not contributing too much, as I've been running a little harder than normal lately.

It's a great feeling to finally get your own truck, and with it comes, as I'm sure you've noticed, a slight bit of anxiety. It's normal and will fade in time.

Good luck with this phase and enjoy your home time. You've earned it, brother. :biggrin_25525:
