Picked up 2 steel coils in New Carlisle, IN this morning (smooth operation; very automated with bar code scanners, bill of lading printer machines, etc.) and was happily on my way to Tennessee when I received a QualComm message. Read the contents at the next load check. It was instructions to reroute me to a truck stop near Indianapolis to swap trailers with another driver. He had 2 aluminum coils bound for Chicago and fleet management gave him my load so that he could go home to Kentucky after delivering the steel coils to Tennessee.
So we did the swap of trailers, equipment, and paperwork. I made it into Chicago and back to Gary with about 20 minutes left on my 14 hour clock. Another nail biter fighting Chicago rush hour traffic.
Tomorrow I will put my truck in the shop so they can fix the HVAC fan and do an 80k mile service.
CDL in hand... Now What ? Decision time, that's what...

Tractor is in the shop. The waiting begins...

Routine maintenance is done, but the other stuff is under warranty and has to go to the International dealer. Waiting to hear now if I'll be taking the truck to a dealer and then where I am supposed to go while repairs are made. New territory for sure. May be spending the holiday weekend in lovely Gary...

After you drop your truck off at the dealer it is protocol to go to a seedy motel! They will usually give you a ride and normally is across town. Once they drop you off, lock yourself in the motel room until your truck is ready and they come back for you!
Just a little joke! Seemed everytime we broke down this was typically the case though. It is a little nice though to get out of the truck for a night and watch some cable television! Don't stress about it, enjoy your time off. This is time off you get paid for!Perpetual Thanks this. -

Sweet! You scored a nice hotel! Like I said, kick back and enjoy the paid time off! Probably the only time you can have a beer while you are out there! Beer, pizza, cable t.v., no wait for a shower! What more can you ask for?!
