I'm in orientation for a flatbed company and they had an opportunity for people to enroll in this insurance where if any ticket happens they will fight it and try and get it removed. It was a 6 dollar deduction from my weekly check. The company is called us legal services. I see why the company likes it because it helps their csa scores but not sure if it's wise insurance or not?
Cdl insurance worth it

$6 x 52 = $312/year shelled out for nothing unless you're a driver that shouldn't have a CDL in the first place.
gpsman, SLANT6, cabwrecker and 2 others Thank this. -
That was my thinking but out of 25 students in orientation. Literally 75% signed up for it so that had me second guess not signing up.

I don't know about this company but you should find out if there are any additional fees if you have to use this or does the $6 a week cover everything. I used to have drivers legal plan and there was a $100 fee to fight tickets on top of what was deducted from your paycheck. I have had TVC for about 2 years . It is expensive but there's no additional fees for the first ticket a year. I recently had a minor accident in my personal vehicle where I was cited for driving too fast. I got that changed to impeding traffic no points and nothing on my record but I had to pay a fine. These things seem like a waste of money until something happens. You can also just hire a lawyer yourself but the important thing is to contest all tickets no matter how minor .

Put the $6 a week in a savings account. Drive within the law. Use the money at the end of the year to buy something nice for yourself.
SLANT6, 77smartin, Plan-B Trucking and 4 others Thank this. -
You're just pre-paying legal fees, for an attorney you don't even know, for services you may never need, and which may prove incompetent or futile if you do need them.
The company likes it because they get a cut, a "bird dog" fee, for finding and delivering the... clients.
Do your best to not get tickets and pay your legal fees as you incur them.blairandgretchen, Stile, TomOfTx and 1 other person Thank this.
