Cdl is the most difficult license to get

They stopped giving out the interstate driving waver you needed some years ago the AAA club and some others went up against the waver and won, the last few years gov. started taking app. for diabeties wavers again so you can look on gov. web page to see if they have started again?

I thought there was a "demonstrated ability" waiver for monocular vision. Seems like it makes sense... if you can safely drive with monocular vision I don't see a problem but I don't make the rules.

 

I'm still new to all of this, and maybe it's different from state to state, but check your medical card. The one I was just issued has separate boxes for interstate and intrastate. If your doc marks you for intrastate only, the DMV is gonna mark you for intrastate, and you'll get boned if you get caught driving out of state. Again though, I'm still new to all this. That's just what I was told by my doctor, and the VA DMV, and three of my five instructors at class.

 

That's not correct.

There is no inter/intrastate limitations.

You need to apply for an exemption in order to get you pass your DOT physical. The FMCSA has in the past granted waivers for people with loss of vision in one eye. I worked with a guy who had cancer in his eye, he had to have it removed and had a glass eye put in. It took him a bit but he was granted a waiver for his CDL and I think as of last year was still driving a truck.

So I would start with going to the FMCSA web site and look for the waiver applications. Then follow the steps carefully. It will take a while to get through the BS redtape but it can be done.

Can I apply for a cdl having a lazy eye
