0.00 is the legal limit anywhere for persons under 21 regarding BAC. 0.01 places that person over the legal limit. If that is not hindering your ability to get hired on, try local, aggregate, construction, agriculture, building material, or similar type companies. Those will yeild better chances than some of the national carriers that have insurance companies riding their backs.

i do not see you employed any time too soon, plus the longer you go with out a job, companies WILL DEMAND you go back to school....it's the way it is......
good luck -
I have to disagree.
You did not "screw" yourself out of a job... you are no worse off then before having the license. You probably have more experience than almost anyone entering a CDL school.
In fact you may have logged more hours in the truck, practicing on your own, than I got at my 160 hour school.
If nothing opens up, then you might consider getting the traditional schooling that companies want.
If you are a decent driver, there are opportunities. Smaller companies might give you a test drive, especially if you could bring your practice truck so they have nothing to lose!
Good luck.

if he can't muster up driving correctly, he ain't gonnabe working.
further, he is screwed unless a mom/pop company hires him. unless he could prove training from a school not too many other companies will touch him. are you forgetting insurance requirements..?? he took "an easy way out"....let him see how "hard" it will be to get a job. -
I would not call it an easy way out.....studying yourself and driving yourself with no "schooling" under your belt can be hard enough work in itself. He chose the less expensive path, and as I said in another post, trucking is so much more than hauling vans and bumping docks. There are smaller companies that will take you in, just gotta be prepared to look.

I agree with the Dutchman. You can get a list of companies in your area and go see them. Explain what you did, but you've got to talk with them face to face. Going to school only gets you your CDL and some very limited experience with a semi. I've never seen a school with a truck and trailer or a set of doubles so you know it's very limited. It's only for insurance why they exist. In fact when they first started some companies wouldn't hire a driver from a school. When I was driving only about 10% of the drivers went to school and none of their learnings carried over to the job. The real training starts at the job and one can only hope for a good teacher.
Wargames and Flying Dutchman Thank this. -
jtfinch27, You showed focus, determination and the ability to accomplish a difficult task on your own.
While most companies are bound by corporate rules including insurance regulations, what you have is what good employers are looking for. You just need to get to the boss/decision makers to show them.
Keep at it!
MikeeeeFlying Dutchman Thanks this.
