I been looking into getting my CDL. The wife doesnt want me to due to her being afraid I'll quit my business and get into trucking. I'm a self employed home improvement contractor and do all the work myself and make enough money to pay bills and them some. In the last 20+ years it takes a toll. (mostly back problems)
I figure when times are slow I could drive tri-axle for friends in the business. I would go for A and not just B class even though I only need B for Tri-axle.
Question is: should I spend the time and money to get a CDL just to have "just in case" with a chance I may never need it or just save the time and money?
CDL or not?

There's nothing wrong with getting a CDL if you're not really going to use it. Kinda like an extra credit card. You really only need one, so why do we have 2-3 ? Just know that it will cost you a couple grand.

It's over $5k for schooling. It's finding the extra time and definitely the money to do so even though I'd be able to write it off as a business expense.
If it wasnt for those extra 2-3 credit cards I'd be able to afford it!
