Everyone seems to say it's best to get this before training to save time when I get there. It's around $100-85 to get the dot medical exam in my state then I could get my permit before training. Thing is I don't have a lot of money so should I wait and let prime's medical staff do the dot exam or cash out the extra $100 and get the permit now. I can already pass the general knowledge, air breaks and combinations practice tests 100% on this website as I have been studying the last month. Thanks for the help guys, I just don't know how big of a deal or help it is to get this before going.
Cdl permit before training?

Just so you know, and you probably do, you still have to pay the State of MO for the permit. Not sure what the cost is though
TehNoob Thanks this. -
Ah that answers my question. I'll get it in my home state then. I didn't know if prime pays for it if I didn't already have it while I was there.

Naw, every state has to get there money LOL. You will need a certain amount of money when you go through orientation. I can't remember how much though, best to ask the recruiter.

Oops I mean the medical exam part. Do you know if I'd still have to pay for that too?
-
Nope, its on the house LOL, unless they have changed somethingTehNoob Thanks this.

Even if you get a medical card in your home state, you will need the new physical once at Prime orientation. Save your money. If you can take the permit tests without the physical, do that. If not, wait.

I have the Form 100 from testing for the permit... I guess I never got the actual permit

Getting your permit before you come in is a very wise idea. Just be sure to get all the needed endorsements. Tanker is 1 you will need, hazmat is up to you but wait till after you get a cdl. If you have the permit before it is 100$ admin fee that covers you physical and 17.50 for mo to tranfer over your permit.
Hope that helps
good luck -
There are only a few states that require the medical before you can get a permit. In those situations you are best to wait until you get to Prime to get your permit. Prime will cover the medical and you'll need the money to pay for the permit at Missouri DMV. I'm not sure how much that is off the top of my head but read through this and you should find your answer. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...nc-what-to-expect-springfield-edition.197427/
