I live in Jacksonville, NC and was laid off last month from my job. I want to obtain my cdl license and start a new career. I see threads about all the negative schools but curious if anyone had a positive experience they could share. FFE driving academy in Texas wants to send me a bus ticket to attend there academy but dont want to commit until hear some feedback from others. Thanks John

Do some more research. If there was noone else to drive for, I still wouldn't drive for FFE. USA Truck is not to bad "Truck Wise". But they couldn't deliver on miles. Pardon the Pun. Schneider used to have a school. I don't know if they still do or not. If you can pay for your own schooling then you can pretty much pick your training company.

Knight/squire transportation seems to be the one that doesn't have a whole lot of complaints here about them.

What you want to remember is, these outfits get tax breaks from the Government for training new people in the industry, weather you finish or not, with your S.S # there going to get paid.
A bus ticket to Texas, well how bout the return if things don't work out?
What lodging will you have for the training period.
I'm almost sure all meals will be on you.
Do you have your C D L driving permit ?
Have you taken the State written test for this ?
It would be to your advantage to obtain the permit before going to any training for any carrier.
To get your foot in the door, in getting started, C R England, Swift have programs, but their regulated by the State there schools are at.
You might have to become a resident of that state to obtain a C D L.
    Good Luck

Check out Future Truckers of America in Asheboro. I went there through drivers solutions but they do regular students and students in the WIA program. They are a very good school and also offer on site housing.
