Hello all well I'm new to the forum and currently looking into places to get my CDL in Cleveland Ohio, currently working with family 1 child. Well I'll get right to the point, anyone have any info on the Cleveland OH truck driving schools? I would need to stay local due to having the family and both us parents work, and juggling bills with needing a free baby sitter or one of us while the other works.
It would be more of a evening / night time class for myself due to the job I have but currently want out of the nightmare field (automotive technician) so I'm seeing what you all think. Hopefully someone out there that reads this knows something and can lend me some of their insight. Any input is welcome the good, the bad, the ugly truth any and all welcome.

Look at google for your area.
Then click on the maps for Clevland.
"Seach nearby" then truck driving,,, then truck driving schools,,, will give all in area.
Try to stick with "PTDI" ratted schools, as these will be your best bet. then community colleges,, the state makes sure you don't get rippped off fly by night schools.
Myself I have studed and passed all written except for dangerous goods. Al;so have had my hazmatt background check. This means one more cent a mile about .75 cents more an hour.
Do this after passing the first three written requirements from the state for your CDL.
This will give you more time to learn the other things you need to learn at school.
Also you can use the background check for a "TWIC" card. Department of Homland security check. Background from your hazmat check. Then you willl defently get hired/keep your job over other drivers.

Not sure if this helps. late at night. -
Have you looked into TDDS above Youngstown? I start there Monday so I don't have any input as of yet, but it looks like a good, solid school.
-
Have not looked into TDDS didn't even see them out on any lists I've looked at, ill look for them later once home. So far requested a info packet from "big rig truck truck driving school" waiting for it to arrive still so I can find out costs and hours. But this is what I need to do due to working full time and family with bills. Ty for the replies so far, the Ritz

Hey The Ritz, Tri C has a Truck driving academy their website address is
www.tri-c.edu/WORKFORCE/TRANSPORTATION/Pages/ClassACDLTraining.aspx
They take training grants through the Employment Connection their # is 216-664-4673. The Truck Driving Academy is located at 23555 Euclid Ave, Euclid, Ohio # 216-987-3226. I looked into them, but i can't remember why I decided to go another route. I hope this info helps. Good Luck! -
This may be too late....?
Tri-C is one. That is in Parma if you didnt now, but im sure you do. Dont know whereabouts you are or how familiar with area you are but there is one on 82 a few miles down on the right going West from 42. Forgot the name. Then if you went out to Akron area which is about an hour from you, there is Hamrick.
Good luck.
[I apologize, I looked at your location and you are in Parma]The Ritz Thanks this. -
I have thought about tri-c or try again as us locals call it for fun I guess. As per the grants due to what my pay last year was as a mechanic I doubt any would be available, but no one ever knows till they try. Guess Monday will be a busy phone call or meeting day as per its my day off. As per the one up on 82 / royalton don't know that one either, getting good advice from lots of people glad I signed up here and asked a question that's for sure.

Found it. The one on 82 is called Great Lakes Truck Driving School. Its in Columbia Station. But.. if you decide to go to Tri-C thats not bad either. I worked at a truck shop in Medina (Mechanic, not driver) and there was an old timer there that went to the college for driving back in the day. He said he liked it cause they got a lot of driving in. Then again, in the last 10 years Brunswick has been built up like a new Cleveland.. I can only imagine how enjoyable it may have been driving around Parma, Middleburg HTS, Strongsville in a truck....
