I'm about to test for my CDL class-A in Connecticut within the next week. My plans were to mave back to Florida with license in hand and get it transfered over to a FL CDL. I am told that this might not be as simple as that. Anyone have some knowledge on this matter?

I did just read on the Florida DOT webpage that they will "reciprocate" an out of state license for a Florida license but they are fairly vague. My question now is, do they require a CDL holder to have had a certain amount of experience before he or she meets the criteria for a transfer? I was told that some states say 2 years before you can transfer your out of state license over.

If you have a CDL from one state you can transfer it to another just like a regular drivers license. The standards and requirements are universal now unlike days gone by so it makes no difference. Most people have to do this when they go to school because they attend out of state and have to test out in that state, then return to their home state and transfer it back.

    NSD11 Thanks this.
