What am I missing here? We all know we have to be able to pass a physical in order to have a CDL. Every company I have worked for, you did the physical, then if you passed, you continued with the rest of the orientation.

If you already have your 2 year medical card and its on file you shouldnt have to take one everytime you apply for a job imo

Celadon will send you for a sleep apnea study if you meet the criteria. We had several candidates in our oritentation class go through the study to get medical clearance.
One of Celadon's big advantages is the fact they have a health and medical clinic right at their Indy terminal. They have physicians and P.A.'s there and you can actually be seen if you are sick, hurt, etc. You go through your D.O.T. physical there during your 5 day orientation as well.
As for physical evaluations, they will get a good idea if you can do the job when you start your training. They don't have a strength or agility assessment like some other carriers do, but you will be hooking and unhooking trailers and performing everyday tasks during yor training as it pertains to your job.
Just don't try to hide any physical issues you might have. They DO check your past medical history and if you are caught either lying or not disclosing any existing conditions, you will be history. Celadon does not tolerate nondisclosure or lying on applications. Just an FYI.

What you are missing is celedon did the physical, medical inquiry BEFORE the conditional offer of employment.

“The law is clear: Celadon cannot subject applicant drivers to disability-related inquiries and medical examinations without first extending to these applicants a conditional job offer," said Laurie A. Young, regional attorney of the EEOC’s Indianapolis district office, in a statement.

    This is from Transport Topics.

"EEOC differentiated between the physicals that Celadon required before it made a job offer and extending a job offer, but making the physical a condition of the offer.
The first is illegal, but the second is legal, the agency said in its statement."

Again, you guys are looking at this wrong. It's just another Rule/Law/Ruling that will #### with Truck Drivers, under the disguise of "helping" them.

If they are forced to offer you the position first and bring you out of orientation, then you fail the physical and cannot be employed, good luck crying about your time wasted and getting back home.
