I was just informed that a student 5 months ago was forced by Quality Drivers/Celadon in Alabama at the Gadsden Alabama School at Osborne had to retake the Alabama CDL-A Permit test, The reason was it was in the contact that they pay for it? Is this strange or is it just me? could they not just reimburse you the cost? I have a Alabama CDL-A Permit with HazMat ,Tankers and Doubles/Triples paid for by me and earned with study on my own this sounds crazy? Does any other school require this when the school is in the same state your permit was issued in?

I've never heard of anything like that. Most places WANT you to come to them with a permit in hand.

Could it be a tester that is contracted by celadon ? They would have to be certified by the state, but that could be why. Even then its just a stupid waste of time.

Unless your permit is expired, and I'll surmise it is not, once you have a state issued CDL permit, you need no other.

If it is in your contract, and they already paid for it, then in all actuality, they have to accept the one the state already gave you. I think it's all about the money, they lose out on the money they will probably have to return to you. Since now, by contract, you have overpaid them, by whatever the total cost of your permit cost you.

if they persist in challenging you on this, I would walk in person to the DMV and make some sort of "polite rukus", on how the school is REFUSING your state approved permit, or seek legal aid, which in many times, first visit is free.

Correct if you mean one or two of these:

    1) the state, as the state got it's money, and YOU GOT your permit

    2) the school, as the school may have a legal obligation to REFUND YOU the money for the permit, that you already paid for in your deposit, or in your tuition up to now. And I can assure you that NO business (like the school) wants to refund ANY money...!!

Ask for another day of FULL training if they do not wish to refund any money. You may not get it, but they will at least see, you ain't no dummy either.>!! (get your money's worth outa them..!!)

As part of the school curriculum, yes, you may very well have to sit thru permit class. Even though you do have your permit, things may be said that you didn't read in the book so try to stay awake..lol

Very best to you on your soon to be new future and adventures.>!!
