HOW can you make money there? Bend over!!
-
He teaches how to manage your money by living on a written
plan.....you take those principals and apply them to the lease.
Nobody has a gun to anybody's head here, I tell you the same thing I tell people in my PM and they can agree
Research! I went straight for all the bad reviews. Plenty of them here and on a carriers Facebook page. Look at what went wrong..
From what I've read most people failed at lease purchase because they didn't know the numbers.
If you don't know your numbers then you don't have a business. just because something is for sale does not mean you have to buy it.
They also didn't have a plan or a business sense. Now it's the carriers fault. You want to be a millionaire? Study them! Want to own your own business? Correct! Study them!
You don't need a college degree to run a business but you better be able to run your business like a business and answer the basic questions of a business...
Do you want a LLC or Corp?
Will your 1 truck operation grow and require a holding company someday? some carriers let
you hire drivers for your truck will you? Ect.
These are things you need to ask yourself and know before you jump out here. I didn't just wake up, seen a ad and signed up.
Have a plan and a exit strategy. I can not stress that enough.
Im in year 2 of my 10 year plan and this is working for me.
And to answer your ? From yesterday. ......."[blank]" LLC is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Be careful digging that hole for me, you might fall in first.Last edited: Feb 15, 2017

Quality leasing is a good place to get screwed big time. And Celadons rates suck. If you'd done half of the research you think you've done, you'd know that.
You need a bigger shovel. And you need to quit talking up a company who sets people up for failure.
I wouldn't be so harsh with you if you weren't trying to mislead others. You're previous post is full of good advice, but you haven't followed it. -
I have to chime in here...
I believe that Celadon's lease program is designed to make them money. No doubt about it. However, if you look at the numbers and proof of rates Highway posted earlier in this thread, there is money to be made. He has shown proof that it is possible to get 1.35-1.55 per mile given the self-dispatch potential. And, keep in mind that the freight market has not been all that good as far as rates go. Will it get better? I believe so. Not a lot, but a little. So there is an upside to the rate equation and there will be an increase in income to the truck.
So if he can make 1500-1700 or more per week net, then why is that a bad thing? Most company drivers will only make $1000-1200. Yeah, granted he will pay a huge premium for the truck, HUGE PREMIUM. But if he can make $300-500 more money each week doing this lease, what's the harm? He will be making more than a company driver. That's $20,000 more per year. And, if things go south and he doesn't end up making more money....well, he can walk away from the lease without harm. They do allow you to do that.
Just sayin....Rllnlion, IAM KING, RebelYellingRedneck and 3 others Thank this. -
If the rates suck so bad, why is he making money? If their cut is higher than other carriers, well so what? He's making a good living for himself. I'd rather have 70% of $1 than 90% of $0.70.IAM KING, popcorn169, Highway_Executive and 1 other person Thank this. -
In so glad for this post i pray it continues i just got my bus confirmation to go to celadon next tuesday can you tell what is done for orientation... im interested now in the kenworth i thought i was going to just look for freightliner that im used to driving or volvo but i saw video on kenworth and am willing to pay the 695 base bcus my house is paid for my truck car and motorcycle is paid for no kids to take care of want to travel for free win win situation for me i wonder everybody that complain about leasing a truck that u can walk away from are paying mortgages and car notes.. i find that dumb when u can buy a house with cash aling with buying a car outright how much of a markup is that i was buying house for 65 but at the end that house was doubled.. reading this post at least got me to decide to go with percentage pay and not the cpm thank u ... another wuestion i have is with percentage do u still get the fsc? And what about detention layover and such
Highway_Executive Thanks this. -
Im not planning to keep the truck neither just over glorified rental and a chance to make more money than i would as a company driver.. another question so if u only want to run midwest you can choose to do that instead of wrdtcoast northeast or southern states? I see u said that u r running a triangle area r u making the same 2000 only running in our states up north

My only concern with any of these programs is they lay out the examples as favorable weeks.
What happens if the unthinkable happens and you need a week or more off? They still expect the payment and fixed cost.
As for the walk away part, is it immediately or do you give a 30 day notice? Just curious. -
My main thing with this thread is that some people work the plan to suit themselves. No way I'd ever entertain a lease, particularly through Celadon, but some folks are happy with it. If certain Celadon L/O's are content, so be it. I'd never rain on their parade, nor would I expect them to rain on mine. It will be interesting, however, to see if this program works out long term. I'll stay tuned, for sure. Good luck to all.
RebelYellingRedneck and Highway_Executive Thank this.
