cell options or internet for Canadians in US

But that's the problem with the straight talk phone I bought....no tethering option. And I need to be able to tether or hotspot my phone because I need to use my laptop for faxing and printing.
I didn't realize that tethering your phone was such a big issue in the US. I don't understand the problem. You're paying for said 5 gigs of data....why should they care how you access and use it. Makes no sense to me
