I'm going back on the road and taking my verizon broadband modem with me. My wife does not appreciate this at all since it's the only internet access we have. She just checks email and I was thinking of using her verizon phone as a modem on the desktop for her to be able to check email. But I'm too dumb to figure it out.

I have the USB cable for the phone but the software on the computer for my broadband verizon modem doesn't recognize it.

    Can anyone help me?

What kind of phone do you have? I have the new Dare. I will use this as my modem.

    Huh what???

    Is this a Verizon Wireless...aircard?

Or a modem that is hardwired to the cable or phone line?

First you have to pay for the service... This just does not come free....
Second you need to turn on that feature on your phone... Some are simply in the settings menu but others are in a hidden menu that you need to unlock to see..

Second you need to install the software on your computer.. You need to install a driver on your computer for your phone as well.. The software should have the driver if not then you need to search the internet for the driver that matches your phone... No driver means your computer will never see your phone....

This service came with my phone. When I installed the VZ accessmanager software it said I had Verizon Broadband 3G internet useage. That is the reason I bought the Dare phone.

I had to download a file off the internet before I could use my phone as a modem. Also had to use the disk to download the axcess program to connect. I use Altell with my blackberry 8130 phone.

I'm connected through my phone right now. I have a TMobile Dash phone running Windows Mobile 6 connected through a USB cable. I downloaded the PC software from Micro$haft to connect to the phone. I added TMobile's data plan to my bill and now all I do is push "connect" on a screen and I'm good to go. It uses the EDGE network, Tmobile is rolling out 3G this month as we speak.
