Not my choice to do the fax machine...my boyfriend has his own business and is a bit of a caveman when it comes to electronics. You wouldn't believe how hard I had to twist his arm to get him to stop complaining that I bought him a NEW tower and fax/copy/scanner...to get him to give up the fax machine (he kept the old one which doesn't work with Win7) and use a program to send? Lawsie Mercy.....not happening anytime soon.

Up until a year or so ago I was a die hard flip phone guy. I swore that I didn't need to get email on my phone and didn't text message much.
I started with a Motorola DroidX and now have a iPhone 4. There are endless options with the APPS available these days. Now I don't know how I would live with out it. I don't take my laptop in the truck anymore. Luckily I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan through Verizon, I've used Verizon for years now, they're the best by far.
As for protecting your phone the Otter Box cases are the best. They will make your phone very tough and rugged, I had one on my DroidX and now have one on my iPhone.
I strongly suggest the iPhone. They are very simple to use and it doesn't lock up and have a lot of the quirks that my DroidX had (the Droid's are very good phones though, I really liked mine). The iPhone's are so simple to use I had my 67 year old mother up and running with hers in about 45 minutes. -
For fax I use www.extremefax.com We have not had a land line for about 10 years.

What got your mom? Mine thought Seri was the best thing since sliced bread lmao. Now she just tells the phone to look up numbers and dial them. Handy when your eyes aren't young anymore. -
Shoot- sounds like I am going to have to get an iPhone soon. Lap top for now!

The apps you can get for either OS are great for how we work on the road. I handle many of my online bills with a simple click or two. Truckstop apps help tremendously in backwoods areas. Instant messages, email, text keep me updated from multiple directions. News apps give me instant updates from multiple websites with a single click. Hell I even tracked my Tax Refund with the IRS app this year.
I'm a gamer. But the iPhone screen isn't good enough. So keep the laptop LOL -
google don't have privacy issues. apple does.
google don't need a computer to update software or download apps or transfer musice or what not.
apple can't do a darn thing without the itunes software on a computer.
google has lots of free apps. apple does not.
google doesn't charge vendors a fee to submit there apps in the market place. apple is so stingy and takes so long to approve an app that lots of vendors are starting to give up on apple.
google has a bigger screen. google has dual core processors. google also has 4g. apple is still on single core and 3g with smaller screen
google can be rooted with ease. apple is a bit complicated with there jail break that most people don't attempt. -
I know some people will fight tooth and nail for Android, and some for Apple...my thought is that they are both similar to someone who doesn't have one of either yet (like me), but they are each unique enough to cause rabid followers/haters. It's like anything else. You have choices on what you want/need, so before plunking down your hard earned money, try to be well informed on what each has to offer, and what wireless company you have to sign with for each of them...the last can be a deciding factor, on its own.
