Cell Phone Problems![]()
Here's the deal, I have a magenta Motorola RAZR V3. It's been acting hinky for about 2 weeks, and not holding a charge for very long. So, of course I bought a new charger. This worked great for maybe 2 days. Then I noticed that even if I let it charge overnight (8 hrs.) it would only go to 2 bars, not a fully charged 3 bars. So today I broke down, and bought a battery at Radio Shack. I took out the old battery, pop in the new one, and voila! I have 3 battery bars and a good 6 hours of service before it dies during a call to Tex.
So I hook it up to the new charger and it charges. After maybe 2 hours I check it...nothing just the red, low battery icon.
It has now been charging for 5 hours and now it won't even turn on. It's just dead, when I flip it open.
What do I do now? Did I buy a faulty battery?

I think, but am not sure, the problem may be in the phone itself. For some reason, the wiring may be screwed up inside. Probably a short or something. Sounds to me like the energy from the charger may not be getting to the battery. Check the connection between the phone and the charger, and remember those phones aren't really built to take all the vibration that occurs in the course of driving down the road. If all else fails, take the phone back and see about getting it replaced.

The replacement RAZR V3 arrived Tuesday afternoon...without a battery. That's right, T-Mobile sent me what was either a new or refurbished cell phone with no doggone battery. I'd already replaced the battery in the old phone, I put the new battery into the new phone and it was dead as a doornail.

So Wednesday I went to the mall and got a new, phone. I wanted a QWERTY keyboard cause I text a lot.
As much as I like the Blackberry I didn't want my monthly fee to be jacked up another $34.99, so I settled on the Samsung Gravity in white with aqua trim.
I'm still setting it up and assigning ringtones. But it seems okay.

Never did understand why ya gotta spend more money to carry a BlackBerry. Is it just because of the name?
GAPrincess Thanks this. -
I guess it's the operating system, but I'm really not sure.

I have a gripe with the Samsung Gravity and I don't know if it's all Samsung phones or just this one.
I used to be able to send a text message to an e-mail and on this phone I can't do that.
Now I have to exit the text area, open AOL, and then type the mesage again. That's the other thing there is no cut/copy and paste function. Kinda annoying but I guess I will get used to it.
I pay $5.99 a month for T-Zones which gives me pretty much full internet access anywhere I can get a cell signal. I switched to a 1,000 minute plan for $39.99, and dropped the My Faves which was $5.99 a month. Oh, and I have unlimited texting for $15 a month.
I have to admit I like the glitzy look of the Blackberry and I know they have a great rep, but I'm not in a position to pay $34.99 a month for what I currently get for $21, right now.

Blackberry is more Internet functional, and the data available with it is more accessible and more in volume so therefore the cost is higher for the plans. My older son tried a Samsung, and didn't like it, so he bought into the Blackberry, he likes that. I don't like texting, it's tough to read without reading glasses and in bright sunlight, text is useless, so I have no interest in a Blackberry, I am sticking with a more basic phone.
My cell company was exchanging batteries at no cost, my wife switched to Kyocera, so now I have two new batteries with a new phone and my old battery. I wanted to keep what I had because of the chargers I have for mobile that don't destroy the battery from overcharging.
