Cement truck driver & dispatcher charged in deadly crash.

So who's running the operation now? And why aren't they being indicted? It shouldn't just be the driver and dispatcher, the entire corporate culture that fostered the belief that running a truck that unsafe needs to be brought up.

 

The owner can only do so much. It's up to the driver to drive the trucks. If there is a problem he should've not taken that truck and from what I'm reading the dispatcher and everyone knew about it. The right people were are being prosecuted. The owner buys the truck and pays people to oversee them. It's not like the owner is out looking at the trucks every morning

The truck will air up if it was not a maxi brake. It would only leak when you apply the brakes.
On a maxi brake it would leak when you released the parking brake.

Had a job here at home that they poured a foundation for a 50 story building that ran for 32 hours strait, the do pour at night.

 

Massive message here about driving a truck with issues because you feel pressured to do so.

You are responsible for the truck you are driving. If it has issues then refuse to drive it! It will be you who will be standing in front of the judge as he hands down 30yrs for vehicular homicide. I am amazed how many drivers blow off pre-trips or let known problems wait until they have time. Driver Robert Ashabrunner will have lots of time to think about his truck issue.

Hi Dryver, that's true. I often wondered that myself. Perhaps some people are just scared to death of losing their job, they are willing to take a chance. Ok, I can see the person that refused to take a trailer because it had no reflective tape on the ICC bumper may have been a little much. While it is illegal, it pales in comparison to bad brakes. I drove a Louisville Ford tandem dump for an asphalt company years ago with hydraulic brakes, and there was a problem with the hydra-vac. The brake pedal would not move and almost no brakes. ( good thing it was a 3208 , non turbo, so I wasn't going very fast) They replaced the hydra-vac, but same thing. The 2nd time it happened, I refused to drive it and got in a big kerfuffle with the boss. They parked it in the back and gave me a tri-axle Mack to drive. It wasn't much better, but at least had brakes.

No doubt there calling the diaphragm a air bag, Most of the cement I have delivered was transported at night.

Cement is a powder hauled in pneumatics, concrete is hauled in a mixer, wet.

Concrete 1 cement, 2 rock, 3 sand add water and stir.
