Atleast you had the pleasure of talking to each other on here and it doesnt make thst first meet so awkward lol. So what is rookie road? How are the trucks? Training facility's? Keep the updates coming.

Rookie Road is just a frontage road that gets virtually no traffic so it's a good place to learn shifting (or not shifting and stopping as the case sometimes is). The facility is impressive, hundreds of rigs in the yard, multiple large, nice buildings, a cafeteria that serves good food at reasonable prices and a large empty paved area for parking maneuvers. The trucks that stay in the yard for parking/backing maneuvers are pretty beatup. The ones we take out on the road are much nicer. Most of the trucks we are driving are 9 speed Volvos. Day 1 report to building 1 upstairs.

Thanks for the info and not being smart at all, just answering a question. Im planning a few places but im narrowed down too a few companies. Do you gotta have your permit before you go there? Or is it just easier to get the permit with them/without them?

You don't need a permit. You will transfer your state drivers license to Utah for a CDL learners permit that you'll have spent a week in school preparing for. after that you'll have another week of school and take and pass your CDL. You will get a Utah CDL that you will then transfer back to your home state.
Central will cover all the school and lodging. You pay for your own food and dmv fees. After you get CDL and become employee then there are a few days of orientation followed by roughly 30 days OTR with a trainer in his/her truck. Then you'll get your own truck and begin hauling. Not until that point will you even contemplate going home. Plan on bringing a few hundred bucks, a desire to learn, no drinking or drugging habits and no history of drugs, your clean pee and give it your all and an expectation to not go home for a couple months and then again maybe once every 4-6 weeks for the next year.
If you split before you fulfill the one year obligation to central then the three grand it took to train you needs to be paid back.

Thanks for the detailed info on their training program Racerdad. Ive looked at their program, Primes program, roehl, and a few others, but Im really between prime amd central. Either way, ill think ill be happy just to have my cdl driving across America,. Not worried being 4-6 weeks out all. Actually look forward to it. Never really been outta the tri-state area.
