Wow! VERY nice run there!chompi Thanks this. -
Yep, cat's out. Tired of everyone thinking I am a recruiter for Central!
Now I'm a recruiter for DTL! (lol)
Though I would prefer to run 48 (love being out west!) This gig keeps me close to home and am able to take care of everything here at the ol' ranch. They offered me the team gig and a brand new truck, couldn't pass it up! (pics in my profile) Sounded to good to be true, so I waited to tell anyone until I found out what all it actually entailed. Like I said, its still the "honeymoon" phase but so far so good!
DTL actually has two other terminals, one in S.C. and one in Cincinnati. The do offer solo driving gigs but their team gigs really pay off! The Cincinnati terminal runs teams Cali and AZ from OH. Like I said all hub miles (even if you get lost!) The important thing to me is that they leave you alone. As long as you are doing your job they could care less what you do or how you do it. We do run E-logs but no qualcomm so you aren't bombarded with messages all day long! This is a company for the experienced driver and that's how you are treated. Anyone interested and live in those areas give me a shout. I'm really not a recruiter for them, I do get a few bucks for referrals but its not much. It is a really good company to work for though and I would be more than happy to help anyone out who would like to maybe, possibly drive for them.
Sorry for hijacking the Central thread guys! I still recommend Central also. Of course, they were my first love.... (really lol! lmfao)Lady K, vikingswen, Jarhed1964 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Am I missing something here? .22/mi seems light, even for hub miles. If you figure 10-15% extra hub miles that still only comes out to .25 equivalant. Did I get it wrong? Also, is that team numbers? 9k miles in 9 days seems hard to do legally on one log.

Passion, I wish I could do 9k miles a week by myself! Yes, you got it wrong but I won't rag you for it, you're still new. As a team its actually pretty easy log wise. Actually our truck is governed at 78mph so when we finish our shift or at some point during the day we have to let our driving time keep ticking when we stop for awhile this way our time matches our mileage. We just switched over to e-logs a few months ago, when we ran paper it wasn't a problem. Actually don't mind the e-logs though, it really make things easier and as a team we aren't worried about hours anyway. The way our schedule it set up we can always get 34's.
Thanks Nottoway for the clear up. Yes it is like getting paid $.44 a mile.Nottoway Thanks this. -
Little confused with your post Cobra67y20. If you were question was for me, I have over 16 years experience.

Let me ask you Chompi, as a former Central driver. I am trying to decide who to start with. I just graduated school and got my CDL.Even though I did drive a little 35 years ago, locally, for our family business. It was an R Model Mack with one of those "indestructible" Maxidine 5 speeds, pulling a flatbed. Long time ago, only self-taught. Thats why I went to a school last month. The school, however, really only "taught to the (DMV) test". (I should have read this forum before selecting it.) No night driving, not backing into actual docks, no pulling loaded trailers. We did operate with Volvo's, double bunk cabs, 10 speeds and 53' trailers. I just feel I need a good starter company that can help re-establish my confidence level...take my training to the next level.
Naturally, most folk want decent pay. Central seems to fall a little short there. Roehl seems to have a good training program with 8 days classroom/yard/local road, followed by 9-13 days OTR with a trainer...maximum 14 hours days...no team driving as such. Pay starts at $.30 and goes to $.36 at year 1. They pay the higher P.M.P. or Practical Mileage Pay.
Epes seems to have the best pay, starting out at $.31 plus $.07 bonus on all hauls with destinations north of Washington, DC which they apparently run a lot. Think they get you to $.35 at the one year mark (plus the bonus).
Back to Central and why they're in my final three. (I have about 7 preHires, thought that was enough.) If a newbie has to go OTR for minimum one year, at least I'd like to see some of this country I've never seen. Is Central the place to do that? What do you think of their training?
In earlier posts ARFrost indicated he's really getting around the country with Central, including out west. However, 6pack warned against Central's pay and mileage calculation method.
Money isn't everything. Training counts as well as getting some enjoyment.
Thanks for listening!
(Heading outta the house. Check in later.) -
Gotcha. I was thinking 22 split. That's a sweet gig you've got there, especially with all the home time.
chompi Thanks this.
