did you get fired or left on good/semi good terms? As with any other company, fired... definitely not. Might have to talk to Carl and then it goes to a review board... or thats what DM said when he quit and tried to come back... apparently dispatch didnt like him too much...

I must have some kind of magnet on the truck... and those 4 wheelers seem to like going under the trailer on the right side at highway onramps....
-
you COULD do that but thats alot of work. as a general guideline.... do it like Smurfette says... but i would take 9 hrs x 55 mph for company drivers (60 for lease ops) x cpm = pay for 1 day... im sure you can figure out how to get to a year from there... but thats on paper. Then you have crap Celticwolf says... Shipper/receiver issues. Dispatch issues, truck issues. etc that can lower your pay.

Lupe, you got more questions than Alex Trebek! These guys are trying to tell you straight forward that there really isn't a way to average any kind of pay in the trucking industry! There are too many variables, meaning, driver experience, the drivers dispatchers experience, freight, traffic, breakdowns, time of year, weather, where in the country you are, hold-ups at the shipper and receiver, getting sick, home time, etc.... the list goes on and on. You could make 3800 miles one week and 200 the next! In hindsight you could probably figure your average, but if you are trying to predict the future it just isn't going to happen in trucking. With that said if you yourself sign up for school, don't miss the bus, and become a truck driver, then your first year you can probably plan on around $20,000 to be safe. If you are good at trucking, work for a good company, get a good dispatcher, and know how to hustle you can probably bump that figure up to about $30,000. As time progresses and you learn the industry, and once again if you work for a good company, have a good DM, and are hustling then you could probably start climbing the ladder around $35,000. A really experienced driver with a few years under his belt with all above said factors is probably capable of $40,000 or so. Are you pickin up what I'm puttin down?
Panhandle flash, Jarhed1964 and lupe Thank this. -
If you averaged 9 hours per day. And taking off 4 days per month.
At 30k you would earn about 10 bucks per hour.
Now this is only logged working time. Not time sitting at a dock, waiting for a load, or anything else.
Just 9 hours work on average for all days out. You will probably work more on average than that, so would actually make less than 10 bucks an hour. And no, we do not get over time.lupe Thanks this. -
I think we need to start a poll.
It will be : Should Lupe be a trucker?
We will need all drivers that are voting on the poll to read his prior posts first.
The options will be.
-Yes, he would be a great trucker. Already has his complaints all lined up.
-No, he should go to college and be an accountant or other desk jockey.
-Maybe, but he should go in the service first and grow a pair before he drives.
I kind of feel bad doing that, but really man. You ask the oddest questions, when all the answers to the important ones are in these threads within the time you have been on here.Jarhed1964, Rattlebunny, JimBob24 and 1 other person Thank this. -
lol delayed hometime again! my load was supposed to go to Walmart in Robert, LA (according to the QC anyway) thenget another preset to phoenix then get another one to the Bay area. I get to Nestle in Mt Sterling, ky and where does it say to go on the bills? Bedford, PA! Called dispatch and apparently customer service input the load incorrectly and instead of Walmart 6057 they put walmart 6047. I guess i can go pick up my chains while im there... Johnstown is only 30 miles from that walmart in bedford.
-
I meant drive 9 hrs... total about came out to about 32k after taxes. but then they would need to get 2800 miles/week from dispatch... good luck with that one for the first 6 months.

1st year a more realistic salary would be probably 25klupe Thanks this. -
Can we wannabe's/students/newbie vote too?
-
My vote CD would be ANYTHING besides trk driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jarhed1964 Thanks this.
