Why do these companies expect the driver to pay (out of his own pocket) to wash their trucks?!

Most companies have washes at their own yards. They save money at their yard, Blue Beacon aint cheap. I like a pretty truck but can wait till I swing by a terminal. When I was with TMC it was totally the opposite. Mr. Arnett loved his trucks more than his wife. If you went over 10days without a Blue Beacon truck wash(contracted no charge to the driver) reciept in your trip pak you were fined $75. And you had to shine out all of the aluminum wheels and your chrome stacks yourself, part of the job requirements. Now they have all classic Petes, it must be aweful, TMC= Too Much Chrome.

They do not expect you to wash the truck.
If you want to you can, otherwise it will not happen.
My company has drive thru wash bays at most terminals, we are supposed to go in that every time we hit a terminal.
I try to when I can. The was at them is ok for knocking off some of the big stuff, and it does well on the trailer. But it will not get the road grime off the truck.
So I will normally go to a truck wash a now and then to get the truck clean.
I just prefer to drive a clean truck.

Load delivers Mon am in clackamas or. I'm gonna try to wait out the chain requirements in redding. Although, I will probably be running 70, 80, 90, 94 all winter and should expect to use chains regularly.

Now you're in my neck of the woods! If it is a Safeway run you can stay at the yard in Milwaukie, OR. TFSMIL is the abbrev for directions. It is about 3 miles or so from the Safeway/Fred Meyer area. Beats a truck stop in that it is quiet...except for trains occassionally and they love to blow there horn on the way by...good luck the passes usually don't stay closed very long.
