Shouldn't be a problem! Did you let your CDL lapse or do you still have it????

I let it lapse. Sounded from the recruiter like that was a better thing.

I know CENTRAL will like that $$. I need to learn the new HOS anyway, done paperless logs before, and qualcomm, but it'll be fun to see if I can still handle backing the reverse serpentine without killing cones. I'm planning to do the trainee deal again, if I must, and get where I'm going from there.

What do they say in Maine? Cahn't get theah from heah. Gotta go through theah fust. THEN ya can go 'round theah.

Thanks Bullet - what really gets me is that I had a what today would be called a DUI back in the late 70's early 80's. And it might have been called a DUI - all I got was a 500.00 fine. My how times have changed!! I told the school that I was going to and the Director of that school said to leave it off - so I did with Swift, Covenant and Werner. Those were the three companies that this school was pushing. After reading all this stuff on this site - well I think the school gave me some really bad advice. The school said it was before computers and it probably won't even show up. Thinking about it, big corporations and governments had computers back then, just not the PC's on a wide spread bases. So I know that those three companies are out cause I am not going to tell this story and expect that it will be ok. They will bring me in, send me home, and it will go on my DAC - not a good thing!! Oh well, life goes on!!

Anyone know where or who that I can get a background check on myself? Then I can answer honestly with the correct dates.

You should be fine just disclose it on your app!!

A driver who went through the school in February had a DUI and still got hired.........Just make sure its on your application.

Thanks for asking Jess. I am still waiting to start school on the 13th of July. Brickman wrote that Central has frequent runs through Phoenix, and even a drop yard, so hopefully home time won't be a problem when (and if!) I'm up and running. Another question or two: 1.) If the trailer is at a local drop yard, can a Company driver take the tractor home (or in my case, to a secure RV storage facility) overnight?
2.) What are some specifics of the group health ins?
Thanks also to Bullet for the great info and updates on the training.

Poohbah, I'd send a pm....but can't. So, how long since you applied before you got the 7/13 report date?

ALSO: Anyone else know how getting into and out of PHX looks? I ask because my recruiter told me I would be out two weeks and home two days, YEAR ROUND.....and of course I ate THAT up. (as in, no way I told my wife that.) Not that I want to be home all the time, I know better, I'm just (honestly) questioning the veracity of that there recruiter fella. I'm wondering if they are planning a kind of southwestern regional deal or something, to get that kind of regular routing going. Interesting concept.....you hear the same, pooh?

poobah You can take your truck home.

Health insurance is through United and I hear its not to bad for a family.

JahB Never believe a recruiter and I very much doubt you would be home every 2 weeks.

Central like you to stay out for at least a month. You might get the odd 10hr break at home but as a rule they keep you on the other side of the country.
