You will be away from family and friends for 7-8 weeks while you complete training and then a couple of days for the upgrade, you might be lucky enough to get a truck straight after upgrade, but not likely so thats 9 weeks away to start.
Central like you to stay out at least 4 weeks before hometime. -
I'm not worried about being away, I understand that is part of the job, there are other concerns I have that are more personal than about the job.

Everyone pray that Chicago magically shuts down tomorrow morning, for # 1 hr, when I hit the limits. Could make my delievery on time then with no problems. Had to do a swap yesterday in Ocala, Fl. Won't go into detail but my was it a messed up deal. Took almost 3 hrs to do by the time road assist and OSD were involved. Got so frustrated that I lost focus and screwed the pooch on my preplan. Have let the company know and am still hoping to pull it out. Ain't going to happen of course, but hope springs eternal.

Madame Butterfly - Marten and May Trucking are hiring experienced drivers as well as team drivers. Check out their web pages.
Central will only hire you, experienced or not, if you go through their training program. If you were planning on team driving while he's a company driver, there is NO absolute garauntee that you'll be placed with him, not to mention that you'd both need to go through their school, and go through their over the road training (28 days or so), most likely separately. If he leases (and that is another evil topic), you can team with him, but you'd be considered his employee, and not central's employee. The legalities of how they work it all are very fuzzy, but that is what they have to offer from their end. -
Anyone know if they run APU's on company trucks? If not, Idle policy? Also, I know they run Cummins engines, what horsepower? Which Transmissions do they use?
-
No APU's
Think its around 30% (idle)
horsepower 435
Volvo 8-10
Pro-star 9 speed -
Jess is right no APU's and 30% idle is right to anything over that and they may charge you for the fuel it sucks
