dont get me wrong the student started off fine. it was the last couple of days when he started tripping. it was around the time he ran out of smokes and money. i brought him some food so he could survive, but the only thing he wanted to do was smoke. he would spend his last dime on a pack of cigs b4 eat. in the end he apologized and told me he was sorry. he said when he cant smoke his days go bad. i believe it went wrong when i fussed at him for continuously tailgating cars and trucks. he got mad and didnt wanna drive so i told if he didnt wanna drive his shift he couldnt smoke. since i was dropping his off and he apologized i didnt feel the need to call the training dept, because he came to me as a man. thanks for the congrads on my son he was born on the 23rd and weigh 7lbs and 7oz.

 

He did at least spring for coffee this morning. The good stuff, too! I did have to buy my own danish, though.

 

Both truck and trailer got red tagged. (Both needed safety inspections and truck needed an air valve replaced.) All was fixed by morning and load will deliver on time.

 

If I am wrong then I do Apologize! But #### your student was a #### good Liar.

River_Runner, He made a point of telling me he paid for the coffee and I gotta admit he was going to pay for my coffee as well only I was quicker then him!

I'm still peeved about the pay cut. I didn't find out about until 2 weeks after it was in effect. D/M says everybody took a pay cut, but I'm on the midwest regional fleet. I run 3-4 shorter hauls a week. Losing that ontime service bonus amounts to a 10% cut for me. I like how my D/M pointed out how other companies don't pay any of the bonuses we just cut. I pointed out how A) That's what made Central worth driving for, and B) Other companies don't generally consider $0.005/mi a respectable raise for 2 years safe OTR experience. He didn't have an answer for that.

 

I was almost robbed by world's dumbest thief. I was sitting in the truck, and talking to my wife on the phone. He comes up and shows me a knife and says get out of the truck and give me your money, I look at him and say "Hang on a minute buddy, I'm on the phone." He just stands there and I say very loudly, "Hey honey, can you call the police for me some dumb butt is trying to rob me." and I describe the guy to her

He's still standing there, I put the truck in gear and drive off. I see him in the mirror and he looks suprised. I wish I could have gotten a picture. This was in broad daylight at the FlyingJ in Rawlins,Wy it was priceless

 

He must not have seen the logo on the truck or he would have known you didn't have any money!
