While the Laredo fiasco was an extreme pain, (At least for me.) I'm sure it pales in comparison to others have experienced.
This is the first time Central has gotten me home this late since my upgrade in late February. The wife's not happy but what can I do. I can't expect Central to "create" a load just to get me home.
No. I'm not sorry I went this path. I was able to find a job when there were no other options available in my local area. Would I have made te same choice if other jobs were available closer to home? Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not getting rich but with a home that's paid for I don't have rent or a mortgage to worry about. I'm making enough to keep the lights, water, phone, cable, and internet on for the wife. (####, she's got a sweet deal). If she worked she could get the pay channels.
I told my wife when I started this adventure that I wouldn't buy or lease until I had at least a year under my belt. After a year we'll reassess our situation and decide then what to do. She may decide that having me home nights is more important and tell me that I need to go flip burgers or start a career as a greeter at Walmart. (I'm not sure I'm old enough for that, yet.)
I found out several years ago that I didn't like being angry all the time and walked away from a place I'd been employed over 20 years. After going broke in business (wrong industry, wrong place, wrong time) I started looking for other jobs. After researching I decided to go with Central. Since I hadn't set my expectations too high it was easy for Central to live up to them. I know others have not been so lucky. I don't know their story so I won't say that they're wrong and I'm right. Maybe I just got lucky. They had a trainer available when I finished school and had a truck ready when I upgraded. My miles have been good enough to meet my immediate financial needs. If I were younger and had children at home and rent or a mortgage it would be a different story. I try to do my best but the reality is the world will not come to an end if Walmart doesn't get their load of non-dairy creamer or Lunchables on time. I'm not sure I would have had the same outlook 10-20 years ago. Age has mellowed me some, I guess.
Well, enough of my philosophical views. I have a load that needs to be in Lancaster, TX by 6:00 Monday and I'm 50 miles away. I'd better start rolling!!!

Just remember.
The Oscar Myer plant in Columbia is first come first serve.
Get there before your appt time and check in. You can park on the street. They bring in trucks in the order they are on the street.
This tip helped out JJ one time.
If this is the plant I am thinking off. I hope so. They were rather slow, unless you got there early. Then was not bad since I would be farther up the line. -
everytime ive been there they will not unload you as they use the product in this case turkey legs and parts from newberry as they need them which is the appt time. i have gotten there a day early before and did not get unloaded till appt or after.oh yea last time iwas there they unloaded half the trl then parked me back out on the street for four hrs then they called me back in to unload the rest

I had been looking to leave, after they cut pay and bonuses, but my checks haven't suffered, I'm still happy doing what I'm doing.
Right now I am getting Unloaded in New Albany, Ms, then I run up to Indianapolis to deliver on Monday morning. So if anyone is going to been in Indy look me up -

I realized as soon as I looked at my map which one you were at.
I have been there several times too.
My normal load out of Atlanta back to the North was one of 2 Newberry loads.
That was not a bad place to go eather. That little washout place was an ok place to take a nap and get a shower. Plus the lady there was nice.
