Well, finally at a truckstop for more than a fueling and a shower. Been spending a lot of my breaks at shippers and receivers and trying to figure out how to install one of those flux capacitors and Mr. Fusion's so I can make the appointment times I've been getting.

From the way I've been running it felt like 3/4 of the company was on vacation. Being assigned late loads and 200-400mi dh's.

Has anyone come out with a hover conversion mod for the W900 yet?

Just finished OTR training this morning! Laying in bed in a cell block all my own in WVC! Trying to catch up with everybody and get myself geared up to hopefully drive away Monday!

I gotta say so the newbies are warned, my trainer was a class A #######! I couldn't #### or order McDonald's fast enough for him. We didn't get along and he claimed I was the laziest student he ever had. If you talk to anyone I've worked with they'll tell you I get along with everybody and I'm anything but lazy! When he told me that a week into training I put the call in to switch trainers. After we cleared the air a bit about our communication issues and he went back and forth with Kurt, I got talked into staying on since we were so far behind due to early winter and truck problems. He also after learning my employment background, asked me every day WTF I'm doing here, told me that trucking a road to nowhere unless you want to be fat, broke, and single, and told me a couple times that I should find another type of job. He also told me that I had the best shifting skills of any of his students with no prior experience. I'm pretty sure he's bi-polar. I could go on and on about him but it's not worth it. The scary thing is one of my classmates had it worse, his trainer was a complete slacker and didn't sound like a very good driver either. He got kicked off of training and pushed my classmate into quitting!

My trainer worked out a plan with dispatch to get me back to WVC to upgrade so he could go home for New Years, where I would get in another trainer's truck at Henderson, who was heading to WVC to pick up a student. The trainer I rode with was helping me make sure I had everything in order to upgrade, and was concerned that they wouldn't let me because we had only logged 25 driving days. I had brought up this concern with my trainer, who suggested he could drop me off short of WVC and I could walk in the extra day. When we got to WVC we came to find out that my ride's trainee wasn't allowed to depart that night because his drug test hadn't come back yet. This was bad news for my ride, because his load from Henderson was due in Ceres in the morning, and he was out of hours. So we managed to scrounge up the right people in training and dispatch after 5:00 to get me seated on his truck, so I could get two more days in, and so we could get the load in on time! My new trainer was the antithesis of my original: polite, in no hurry, etc. I felt my blood pressure dropping. My new trainer gave me a nice laminated, spiral bound atlas when I got off his truck this morning after returning from our Cali run!

Hoping to survive and complete the upgrade process on Monday. Pray that I get a good truck! If any new students are lurking in WVC and want to pick my brain; I'm wearing a fake wool lined, navy blue, zip-up hoodie and skate shoes.

If you're looking for me and don't see me, I'm planning on being holed up in my room most of the weekend. Feel free to knock on #103 if you're looking for me, unless you're planning on moving in!

Well been a long day here. Slept in till almost 11:00 and boy did it feel good. Just talked to 1bad a bit ago. He is just south of Little Rock heading to Fort Worth. Delivers sometime tomorrow I think he said. Then picks up a load back to Atlanta on Monday. Should be home for a 10 hour break. He is trying to get home time for the 12th and 13th so he can be home for the oldest one's b-day. Hope he can do the same for the baby 1st part of Feb or there will be hell to pay she already feels like everything is so unfair! Ok so I'm off for the night the kids got lots of games for Christmas and they are waiting on me to play so I will check in sometime tomorrow to see what is happening on the roads. Be safe and keep her on the right side of the road!

    Good Night all!:biggrin_25525:

I'm headed to Central training in Conley, GA on January 11th. I've got a few general questions if anyone is willing to answer them. I pretty much know what to expect with the training but my questions are geared more towards after I go solo.

    1) How many miles do newbies average?

    2) What is the average deduction for family coverage insurance? How long do you have to wait to get it?

    3) Do you get to take your truck home?

    4) How is home time? I am fine with home every 2 weeks. Is that normal or longer?

    Thanks in advance.

no, but the easy bake oven is.

Upgrade is easy, watch a few videos, take a few tests, drive and backing test. Should be easy by now.

the right side? I was wondering why there was all that oncoming traffic on the interstate honking their horns and waving at me.

Been looking for my passport so I can get thru the border crossing on the Mason Dixon Line. I heard on the CB they've been cracking down lately.

depends on your DM, since I upgraded I've ranged from 2000-3200

1 day for every week out, not to exceed 4 days without risk of losing your assigned truck.

Which reminds me... I should request hometime, been running since 2 days before Thanksgiving.

    jasper_truck86 Thanks this.
