To all,I apologise if this has already been posted, but I do not have the time to dig through 827 pages of comments. My question is what is the contract commitment time to drive for Central after attending their academy?Or is it so many miles before you are free and clear? Some places make you stay with them anywhere from a year to 2 years, and I have seen a few with miles. My son would like to get the experience, then work for a tanker company that is close to home.He needs a year otr experience before they will hire him.Central seems like a better option than the other companies who train drivers.

    WhiteLine,

My recruiter at Central said that all I had to do is stay 1 year and they would deduct $25/week out of my check during that time to go towards the schooling.

He might be better off to go with Schneider as they have a tanker division that way he can learn to yank tanks from the git go. I think, however with them you have to stay 18mos to pay for your school. So that would be a option.

What 1bad is refering to is a driver that we had met at the laramie petro while we were getting a tire fixed. i think the guy was a russian, but this hopper was in the way of the shop door that the russian was instructed to pull into so the russian decided to try and find the driver of the hopper assuming that the hopper driver was a farmer so he asked everyone are you the farmer, he even asked me if i was the farmer, keep in mind 1bad had on a ball cap, jacket, nascar t-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes and in no way looking like a farmer so when the russian asked him if he was the farmer he said yeah i am the farmer cant you see the overalls and work boots you f$%%^&ing idiot no i am not the farmer, when i heard that i just about spit out the coffee i was drinking and fell out of the chair i was sitting in. apparently they have 11 W9s at conley for upgraded trainees (from another driver we spoke to in Green bay who just came from conley). I was supposed to upgrade today but they gave a load west to SLC
