Lol I never said you could retire off of it. Then again I've never seen a company that pays you for on-time deliveries. Maybe I"m too old schooled but I thought that was a no-crapper in this business.

I can not believe they have me sitting for this long. I think they are trying to starve me out because they finally figured out where I live. -
Got it fixed this afternoon-
thank goodness- been a rough week and a half-
was he icon light bulb- non factory replacement, had melted the connections- so it would never restart-
it's working so sweet now- it's a nice 70 degrees in the cab now,
and screw the bonus when it's 90 degrees outside- -
What is an icon or TAS system??? -
For you guys that went to the Utah location for training, how did the licensing go? Did you get a Utah CDL and have to transfer it to your home state? If so, what address did you use for the Utah license? Who did the road test...DMV or do they have their own 3rd party testers at Central? Also, what are the accomodations like at the Utah facility. Did you have a place to secure any valuables like a laptop? How many to a room? Your overall impression of the training?

HTH! -
I finished my training at SLC today!!!
Yes the rooms are very small. Bring bedding. The showers are pretty nice, there is a toilet, sink, and shower. I did not see anywhere while I was here to lock up your lap top but several guys in my class had lap tops and they left them in their rooms, nobody messed with them. You will use the schools address and use your home address to have hard copy sent to. Then you have 60 days (NO MORE!!!!)to get it transfered to your home state. It is all 3rd party testing with the same guys who trained you and they do understand that you only get a week of drive time and take that into consideration on the skills tests. There are 3 skills tests, road test, backing skills, and pre-trip, and then there is a test to become employed at Central which is an alley dock(backing). You can get your cdl and not get hired if they feel that you are not safe enough or you can not perform the alley dock. But they really do a great job at getting you prepared, there were only 2 people in our class who did not get their cdl and both of them quit on the last day, decided this wasn't for them, and their contracts were ripped up, no money to pay.
Honestly I wouldn't trade any of the knowledge I will take out on the road for anything. These guys, overall, do a really good job at getting you ready in a short time frame.
Well hope to see everyone on the road soon, will continue to let you know how training and then real life with these guys is. Keep the rubber side down!!! -
rdsknsfan: Keep us posted dude. Glad to hear the first part of training went well. I'm assuming you'll be driving on a paper copy of your CDL and will go home after training to transfer it to WA? Will you be assigned a truck after training and head home from there with a rig? How many days off are they giving you after training? That will only leave 30 days to do the license transfer to your home state? How flexible are they on location of parking the truck? Does it need to be in front of your house or can it be parked anywhere allowed in your home town? Also curious where you will be running since you're also from the NorthWest.

rdsknsfan,
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!
I am glad to hear that they take care of you while in school/ training...
I would like to know the answers to what nevadajim is asking as well as;
How was the food?
Do they pay for any meals at all?
Do they have a van or shuttle that will take you places like bestbuy or wallyworld??? I will want to grab some DVD's or ???
Keep us informed of how training goes, and if they run you team miles or solo while out with the trainer?
Also if your trainer is good and clean, please let me know what his name is so I can request him?
Again congrats on the licence and new job, I will be in the June 4th class so I will see you out on the road soon!!!!!! -
Icon is hard to trick.... I was able to once or twice but not on a consistant basis.
TAS, stick it in the channel for 4th gear, all the way right and back, it will sit there without grinding for hours of idling enjoyment.
