I worked for JWA contracted to CTI and when I started there everyone seemed ok. Warning when the terminal manager who hired you quits the day before you start and no one seems to know what to do. Training what a joke!!!I was handed a set of keys and told get this load out of here. So much for going over the policies. They pay every week but hold back for 2 so you get paid your first check 3 weeks later.
It is stessed that you need to be on time and you have to be at work at 19:00 but the load isn't ready to leave terminal until 20:30-22:00. Oh yeah and you don't get paid to sit there. I was told I would get .40 per mile, first check is .40 a mile, second check is .36, and was .36 then on. Was told they would correct it, NOT. After weekly reminders (yelling matches) for 2 months I still didn't get the pay fixed.
When I started I was handed some papers and told they where for me to keep for my records. Never told I would need the numbers off them to get paid, and without that number you DONT get paid. You are up the creek... Paychecks never come with a statement to see what you are paid for, just your gross and deductions and net. Now with all the complaints they have decided to go to a paperless system. In other words you have no way to verify your pay. When you ask them about loads they tell you "Oh we paid you for that load" how are you going to prove it.
I took a new run to Louisville, what a BIG mistake. This was suppose to be a new run, with doubles. I got there the first night to pick up my load. The terminal didn't have the equipment to hook up the doubles, I had to use my personal pick up to move the dollies. then I get to Louisville late due to an accident and I am out of luck, I have to sit for 4 hours in the break room with NO pay, because they didn't have enough forklifts for the drivers to unload their trailers with. This was repeated all week. What a nightmare.
I took off for a funeral and was told "thanks for going to the funeral".
I am no longer working there and they cheated my last check, go figure. what an absolute waste.
Why did I stay with them for 2 months I don't even know.

Sorry there soulman, your experience sounds exactly like mine, except that you made it two months, I only put up with it for A month.

I worked for Central as a JWA driver for about a year. I have no idea how I was able to put up with it for that long. I was a local p/d driver out of the Aurora IL terminal. In the year i was there they went through a bunch of drivers, three terminal managers, and two dispatchers. This place is a joke, unsafe equipment, and they definately don't know how to load freight. I have never seen so much damaged freight. As for the equipment, I drove the same brand new sterling for a year, and the techs didn't touch it once. No pm done to it or anything, no oil on site had to buy your own and attempt to get reimbursed. The whole operation is a complete joke.

PS- jsthvnfun, you live in Plano IL? That's a little drive to Aurora, isn't it? -
Just moved to plano a few month ago, used to live in aurora about 5 min from the central terminal(if you want to call it a terminal).

They only had three bathrooms and if someone had the gall to flush the 'magic' one, it would flood the bathroom! -
yeah that place is a dump. Had to go down there with another driver to pick up some new tractors....still better than the aurora terminal wow.

You got that right Mack. In fact, the co wanted you to run the trlr straight there (whether loaded or MT), so invariably noobs (like me) would turn up there with quite the full bladder. After the first night's experience, I never rolled in there without stopping. And if need be to answer nature's call, the lot had lots of dirt surrounding the asphalt, just do your business when you drop your trlr.

You mean they wouldn't even let you stop to go to the bathroom?!?
Not me. When nature calls I stop, and I don't care who has a problem with it.
