Someone told me that their trucks are automatics. Is this true?
-
I know this answer is coming a bit late, but someone may be wondering.
Yes, they have a lot of autos. I do believe the majority are.
As for the company, they aren't terrible. They aren't all sunshine and roses, either. We do have a new president, who genuinely seems to want to improve things.
Ultimately, the BS isn't hard to deal with if you get a good TM, and I'm home every night. Insurance isn't anything to write home about, so I sourced my own. Honestly, anyone who doesn't at least look at providing their own insurance is hooting themselves in the foot, anyhow.
CTi is an ok company, with the potential to become a good one. We'll see what this new guy manages to pull off. -
I am looking at starting with these guys. Do i need to beware.
-
I hated it badly the first three months, than after wading through all the bs, it got better, I started line haul, now am p&d, its actually pretty lax I get away with alot of crap that I wouldnt at other companies, as long as you do your job, and not hit anything it aint too bad. You do have to check and double check to make sure your pay is right though.

I'm still there, and what I thought was going to be a temporary job to gain experience has become a job I actually like.
I don't tiptoe on egg shells for my job, the paychecks cash, and my support team is pretty darn good.
There are issues, but there will be anywhere you go. But it's little things that are easy to get around.
Basically, the first couple months is the hardest. Safety is a stickler for paperwork, and there always seems to be a bunch of missed paperwork from your application packet. Go with it, give them what they ask for, and forget about it. Once its all done, you're good to go.
PM me when you start, and let me know what terminal. I'll give you some hints on how to make things easier.MilwaukeeTrucker Thanks this. -
Well I just applied with CT and all I need to do is get my haz-mat. They told me I would run from Milwaukee to south Chicago (($85 round trip)) or New Buffalo (($110 round trip)) and dock pay would be $17.50 then $18.00 after 120 days. Its this where I'm home every day or otr with Schneider 6 days on / 3 days off. I'm thinking that I'm going with CT.
-
Check the figures again. It should be 85 one way to Chicago, and 110 each way to Hammond. I do not believe the Milwaukee guys go all the way to New Buffalo.
By the way, when you start, tell Dan that Rob from Mosinee said to be nice to you... Lol
Dan is our acting TM until we get a new one.
Oh, and if you want to get trained on the right way to work the dock, look for our driver in Chicago. His name is Farrell. Great guy. -
.
Now all I have to do is get my haz-mat. I took the dot physical and drug test on Friday. -
