And that's a very good point, seems like some carriers get more attention than others from the DOT, found that out first hand when I was doing the bulk commodities thing.

First set of CTI trailers I took from Laveen (Vietnam War era, patched with welds on the tanks), had several DPS shadow me in the passing lane for miles, shopping for a reason. I had been a little picky with the set I got and then ran them through the shop to have a few things done before heading out. Worth the time spent IMO.
When CT has contacted me (they apparently found my resume somewhere) I've mentioned about how I do pretrips and asked how their equipment is doing, and then don't hear back.
Grateful for this thread because sometimes I second-guess my choices, so knowing they would endanger my CDL and not pay me makes it easier.Last edited: Jun 3, 2019
USMC 3531 Thanks this. -
Saia had taken to advertising on their trailer skirts.
-
Yeah I know, all the new CB trailers have that on the skirts, along with a outline of the North Eastern states on there, I believe it's on the back of the roll doors as well.
-
And BTW, bad as CT is, Estes telling me they were ready to hire me then ghosting me is the most unprofessional behavior I've seen yet in the trucking industry. SAIA looks excellent by comparison, every terminal of theirs I've been to the people have been honest, even if the news or information wasn't favorable they told it like it is. Far as I'm concerned Estes can die tomorrow.

Lol Vietnam war era! And yes as former CTI alumni myself, I absolutely believe you.speedyk Thanks this.

I do have to say one thing though just to be fair, the TM at Estes never said I was hired or in the hiring process, he did say he had other candidates to interview but to keep in touch, but it was during those weekly follow ups that I started getting responses like "were still working on some things" "ah nothing yet but your good just keep in touch " and my particular favorite "well I have been the only one here this week and haven't had time to get to it yet" it was at that point about week number 4 after the interview that I told myself this isn't going anywhere, sure enough a week later the dreaded email arrived saying the position is no longer available, I think that's where our cases differed, but man being told you are going to hire on and then nothing, yeah that ain't cool.speedyk Thanks this.

It's been awhile since I posted on here so I figured I'd share an update,I was able to get my job back at the railroad with my seniority intact so I feel very blessed on that part. I did have to file a claim with the IDOL and few days later my checks suddenly showed up in the mail so I'm happy to say that this nightmare is over for me!
jmz, speedyk and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
I think the Estes guy has fatigue over dealing with reqs he has no intention of filling. Noentheless, it says a lot about the company that it continues happening.
