from what i have heard they both suck....just go to your local stop and ask the guys that get out of thier trucks.......driver is always the best input on a company

Well I know CFI at one time was a great company to work for.. They have recently been bought out by Conway though so I have no Ideal what they are like now.. I just started at AD Transport there was a dispatcher in orentation going threw the same process we was to get hired... He had been a dispatcher for Conway and said they had the worst dispatch there... He said people was always yelling at drivers and at each other there... He said the place was very bad and people was always stressed out...

So, I have no ideal how CFI is now but that sure didn't sound good to me...

Check my rating of CFI in the company dac reports in this forum.

I'm afraid it is a bit out dated, since I left before the buyout.

I'm not hearing many good things from the solo drivers (some are friends that still work there) I talk to. Teams act like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

I've never driven for Western Express. But I hear these guys complain all the time. Topics vary from sitting to long, to having a paycheck shorted.

My brother went to work for CFI about a month ago. He has been running pretty steady. He hasn't had a week where he has ran under 3000 miles. He has been doing alot of Conway linehauls but the good thing about those is they are drop and hook and on each end. As far as the pay he hasn't had any problems with that either. He gets a .03 bonus for hauling hazmat. He found out last week that he gets it no matter how much hazmat he is hauling. He picked up a linehaul that had 13lbs of hazmat on it and got paid the bonus. Anyway the only thing he hasn't really cared for so far is the size of the inside of his truck. He came from a company where he drove a Pete 379 and the KW T600 he is driving now is alot smaller.

What does he say about the home time when he request's it does he get home or do they keep him out? What I mean by request it the recruiter told me that lets say I had been out 10 days and I request my two days off they said after my 14th day I would be home for two days.

It's one day off for every seven out. He has only gone home once so far and they got him home the day he wanted to be there.

i have a very good friend that drives for CFI(he was my trainer at another company) he loves it. at the moment CFI is moving a ton of Conway freight, but like the above said, its all drop and hook. he stays running steady and he gets home when he requests it.
    good luck

My husband has been with CFI/Conway since Sept. 2007. Before Conway bought CFI, it was a great company. He got plenty of miles and was home within a few days of requesting his home time. However, since Conway took over, his miles have dropped considerably and it takes him 8 to 14 days and a nasty phone call before they finally decide to get him home. The dispatchers and other people in opps used to be very friendly and helpful when he needed to call in for some reason, but since the takeover, he says they have all lost it. Maybe due to the stress of the changes, but don't take it out on the drivers. In my personal opinion, if a company is running smooth why change things? Conway should have just changed the name and kept things like they were and everybody would be alot happier. I know they have lost alot of good drivers since the first of the year.

I worked for conway for 12 plus years.Line haul and local. The truckload division has been around for awhile.I have spoken to a few teams and they seemed happy.Hometime could have been better but pay and benefits were very good.Equipment was good also.New tractors, new trailers, always maintained.Conway is a major LTL carrier. The freight they haul is time sensitive. When I worked there, teams would haul freight that needed to get from point A to point B faster than what our line operation could do.Even with the aquisition of CFI you will find yourself with more freight.Conway hauls their LTL freight and other contracts via teams.Alot just drop and hook. They recently purcashed 600 new tractors plus new trailers. Also newer engines for the older CFI tractors. It may take some time before everthing comes up to a smooth operation but I think it will.Conway is strict with rules and regulations but this equals good pay and benefits above what other carriers are offering now.It does take time for a company to revamp an operation.Give it some thought but get in early.I did when conway opened up in new england.I made $50,000. per year on local.
