Neither fly by night (Farm Bureau) for her or higher insurance rates for me due to the fact that my insurance was reimbursed by the at fault parties insurance for all costs that my insurance company paid. Her agent didn’t like the idea of the size of the claim they would ultimately pay for until they were presented with the video of the sideswipe.

Why would you leave your trailer for weeks waiting on parts when a sledge hammer and a new taillight gets you legal and safe and back to making money while you fight for the claim ?
-
At the scene of the accident, I reported everything to my carrier’s safety and accident department I’m leased onto. I sent them all of the photos and they said it had to be repaired before anymore freight could be hauled on it. My safety department and the trailer repair shop both told me it’s illegal to bend the bumper back to its original position. It has to be replaced.ProfessionalNoticer, BigBob410, blairandgretchen and 3 others Thank this.

Unfortunately, you are going to have to hire an attorney to sue them for your downtime if they are refusing to step up to the plate. Also you will have to pay your deductible, and your insurance company cover the repairs. When they are paid you will get your deductible back. I know this sucks, but the megas are terrible when it comes to claims. I suggest you do a temporary fix on your trailer and run it until your parts come in.ProfessionalNoticer, JoeyJunk, snowlauncher and 1 other person Thank this.

Do not do that.
Run around with even just a few cracked welds on the bumper and DOT will hit you with an OOS.Trucker61016, Bean Jr., brian991219 and 3 others Thank this. -
The under-ride regulations require replacement.
After documenting the incident and massaging the area enough to travel gets you home...even if that takes a few loads, if the shipper loads it..Trucker61016, JoeyJunk and TBlank72 Thank this. -

I wasn’t suggesting never having it repaired but any good metal and welding fab shop could make a new bumper and install it, instead of Six months of downtime .Bean Jr. Thanks this.
