If you have regular tires you only need 1 spare for the whole truck. If you have regular tires on the truck and super singles on the trailer(or vice versa) you would need 1 spare for each type tire.

Yep. So in the OPs case he would need spares for each type. For those of us that don’t run super singles, we need a total of seven chains. I’ve never seen them sold individually, so I’ve got four pairs. Still in the original bags, and they’ll last forever since I plan on keeping them that way. If chains are required I’m parking my truck.

Looks like I’m avoiding Washington November 1st through April 1st. Have to chain the front and rear axles plus two on the trailer. I’ve never had to chain up more than the rear drives. If it gets that bad I’ll sit.

    Here’s all the laws

I think you may have misunderstood the chain placement for Washington. As indicated below, the requirements are all four outside drives or both tires on one axle, and one drag chain on either side (assuming standard five axle setup).

Looks like the only state requiring spares is Cali. They want 8 chains.

Also looks like clamping down and making trucks chain 4 tires in most of what i read so far for the western states. Except for Oregon. And 3 railers are required now. For Cali.

From what I've read so far. Thanks @Gumper

3 rail chains are only required if you have one drive axle.

Yes I read it wrong. Pictures are great for some of us. Carrying two triples for the truck and three singles would cover things I’d guess.
