Something about this…well everything actually Really bothering me
While clearly an ignorant move by the suv… including braking as they swerved….
I just cannot understand how an impact like that caused the result?
Company claims steering mechanisms were broken on impact. Which can never truly be verified….im sure by the end of the situation Lots of parts were broken and it’ll take some serious investigation to figure that out and still may not be possible
But imho that type of almost straight on impact should never have caused a catastrophic mechanical failure…the truck doesn’t turn violently at all Nor does it look like the driver (from watching hood angle) abruptly turned right
Even in slo mo it looks as if the truck just veered right….
The right side didn’t violently drop as if a steer tire was cut.
While situation sux and never should have happened
But I’d love to know what really happened under that truck

I’ve seen a few times where the smaller vehicle hits the steer tire and turns it

the truck driver didn’t do anything wrong except maybe slowing down a little since this kid of accident happens fairly frequently, when some lanes gets backed up , and others don’t . Someone from the backed up lanes will ALWAYS cut in front of you .

and again , if you don’t have a dash cam ,

    GET ONE NOW !

Even if your company has dash cams .
    Get your own .

This is the definition of a PREVENTABLE accident. Was the truck driver at fault? No, BUT it was PREVENTABLE. When you see a line of slow or stopped vehicles, ESPEACIALLY 4-wheelers, and you just continue on by at highway speeds, not ANTICIPATING exactly what happened in that video to happen, it's just a matter of time before you get into an accident.

Colorado DOT says differently. This is all on the SUV driver. If the SUV driver had CHECKED HIS/HER MIRRORS FIRST before attempting to change lanes,he/she would’ve seen the truck in the other lane.

    Oh
It’s definitely the white car drivers fault .
    No question about that

but a good defensive driver might have anticipated this , as it happens frequently when one lane is stopped and the other is moving at the speed limit .

More than likely the collision took out part of the suspension components on the steer axle(springs,U-bolts,shackles,etc.)or the axle itself before the truck ultimately crashed, hence the loss of control. The steer axle, may not been broken in the collision, but it was more than certainly misaligned due to the impact.

True, but I’d much rather back out of it then have to deal with a wreck.
