Yeah UNIONS are so great wasnt it HIGHLAND thats was Unionized and when TRANSFORCE threatened to close HIGHLAND down the Union accepted all the cuts just to keep them working, although TRANSFORCE moved a lot of the good $ stuff to other parts of Transforce.
-
i'll admit that I don't have all the facts but challenger seems to be yet another huge company that comes along and undercuts everyone else just so they can keep moving, they make there money on volume, not big dollar loads and customer service, just another big outfit making it impossible for the little guys we have one of those in the maritimes called Armour
-
That is pretty much the way Challenger works. They cannot afford to run properly so they go about it with sneaky tactics. I have seen a lot of those Armour trucks around your neck of the woods when I was down there. I wondered what their story was.
-
And Midland.
-
Armour will haul any freight for any price as long as the company as a whole makes money at the end of the day, they will even take a loss to keep from running empty it's all about volume even if it is pennies on the dollar the real kicker about Armour is that the owner is one of the heads of the Atlantic trucking association, No wonder we can't raise rates. I'm just glad these big outfits haven't started hauling logs/chips...yet.
-
I wonder if it will go any further. Would be interesting to see how a Union would play out in a company like that.
-
unions used to be a great thing, but now thew seem to just be a way for greedy employees to try to get more money, I'm not being biased I used to be a member/shop steward I know the pros and cons. Unions back in the day made great changes, but now most of those benefits are law. In my opinion todays unions just protect the lazy, and force companies to close. If you are being treated that unfairly stick together as employees or just find a better place to work
tinytim Thanks this. -
More Teamster BS as usual.Tell the truth now. 15 guys from Quebec is now a majority???There was never a company wide vote, only a few guys in Quebec voted them in.Big deal! -
Heres a part of a Union Agreement that I negotiated with the proviso to pay a driver more money than others.
Even the Union thought it made a lot if sense. The rates in the agreement are MINIMUM only and the option is for the employer to pay more to whom he wants.
GENERAL RULES
1. The Employer shall have the option at his discretion only, to adjust the rate of pay upwards for select Drivers by taking into consideration one (1) or more of the following criteria: seniority, experience, performance, reliability.
