So last january I was charged with class b possession of marij. My license was suspended for a year, and i sat 2 weeks in jail instead of taking probation. Ive been doing alot of research ever since, and have made the choice to drive trucks in a few months when i turn 21. I have nothing else on my background, no speeding tickets or anything. That was actually the only time ive ever been pulled over. I was wondering will i even be able to land a job? And does anyone have any ideas of companies that i should look into? I know that this misdemeanor wont help any on finding one, but will it ruin my chances of being able to find work. Any replies are appreciated, Thank you

I doubt the chances are very good with most companies. It's the insurance companies call probably.

A recent 1 year license suspension is going to be hard to work around in the transportation/trucking industry.

    Things will be alot easier,

    3 years from now.

In the mean time, get that misdemeanor removed from your record.

My license was actually suspended this january, and i get it back january 2013. I turn 21 the next month after i get it back. Does this rule out my chances of finding a job?

Maybe you could sell pot while you wait to get your license back!

Many starter companies will require 10 years since a drug possession. There are some that will allow it sooner than that but I'd be guessing at least 5 years. I had a misdemeanor marijuana possession that was eight years old and found many companies wouldn't look at me at all when trying to find my first job.

Good luck. I wouldnt go to a truck driving school until after you make a whole lot of phone calls to companies. Drugs wont look good even if a one time thing. Theres also aton of other prospects with clean backgrounds making you look even less desirable.
