I have read much here about new drivers leaving nightmare jobs before completeing their contractual obligations for school loan repayment. Aside from the financial obligation, what does this mean for the possibility of employment at other carriers?

In another thread, this was suggested as a method of acquiring schooling without cash or decent credit:

Sign a contract with one carrier to acquire a CDL, then switch to another (better) company immediately, and repay the school loan independently. Disregarding ethical questions, and assuming a carrier that uses a decent school at a reasonable cost is chosen, is this idea feasible? Will a quality carrier consider you for training/employment under these circumstances?

I wouldn't think you would have trouble getting another job because you left before repaying your loan, it has nothing to do with your ability to drive. Just read the fine print on your contract so you'll know if you have to re-pay the loan in a lump sum or if you can make payments in it.
There was a guy in my orientation class at Watkins and Shepard that did the exact same thing. He was with CR England, got his CDL and then went to W/S without a problem.

I could not afford to stay With Schneider any longer, Not enough miles and a few days of sitting and waiting here and there.

Carry transit offered me a position right away. Most places want at least 6 months verified and they will work with you. If I had known this I may / maynot have stuck it out at SNBC for the full year. More options with the 1 yr on.

A year OTR and you can go just about anywhere. I now also have the luxury of paying SNBC $150 a month for the full 3K after going to their school.

Schneider gave me a start, the school was good, never BS'ed. I have not crashed or had a spill of any kind. Just the mile$ were not there for a 1st year driver.

With my 6 months I went with a small (15 truck) OTR company in Chicago, 40 cents a mile in a 2005 Volvo. Great compared with SNBC 34 Cents a mile (going to 37 cents after 12 months) in the roughest Freightliner I have ever seen.
