I am a new O/O. I wasn’t going to change my own oil. I made many excuses on why. But after being through a few shops already with poor results and the ridiculous price they want to charge at some shops, I decided to do it myself. Bought this handy oil pan. On sale this month at Napa for $100. Got lots of garages that have waste oil heaters so I can dump all at once. No need to fill smaller bottles.
I have been stockpiling oil but lately its been more available. Plus I have a big distributor not far from me that will have something in stock.

The manufacturer is Hopkins/Flo Tool. Google 58 qt drain pan and it’s available many places.

As far as new oil jug sizes, 5 gallon buckets are a ##### to empty without a pump of some sorts. I hate the waste of 1 gallon jugs. So I bought the Rotella 2.5 gallon jugs to fill from the buckets. May get a drum at some point if my kids will let me use some of MY garage space. LOL

It's cheaper by the 5 gal bucket just save a empty 1or 2.5 jug and pour in to that from the 5 gal bucket ..
Or just pony up the 45.00 for a pump for a 5 gal bucket...best investment you could makeConcorde, Rideandrepair, MOBee and 9 others Thank this. -
I'm about to the point of just ponying up the cash for a 55 gallon drum and metered pump. Nobody seems to reliably have Delvac or Rotella around here anymore, either jugs or buckets.bzinger, Rideandrepair, Sirscrapntruckalot and 7 others Thank this.

I’ll most likely do that. I was working on truck in front of house but now all work is done at my parking spot. Rather have any mishaps in the gravel lot and not on the neighborhood street.
Note: This oil pan will be too heavy for some to lift. You can use ramps to push up into truck or tie a rope and pull from the truck bed.Rideandrepair, Keepforgettingmypassword, Dino soar and 3 others Thank this. -
I'am a die hard Rotella guy .. if you have like a Farm store such as Fleet Farm or Tractor Supply they carry it around here .. I've got it through Big A auto Parts tooRideandrepair, Keepforgettingmypassword, Another Canadian driver and 4 others Thank this.

Between Walmart, Sams and Tractor Supply its been OK at least in my area. Others can’t seem to find any which is crazy. Two things I never thought would be in short supply: 15/40 dino oil and dry van trailersRideandrepair, Keepforgettingmypassword, Dino soar and 4 others Thank this.

We've got Runnings, used to be Cambells but it's gone entirely downhill since they sold out, Tractor Supply, Walmart, Menards 45 miles away, last time I was buying oil I couldn't come up with 10 gallons of Delvac or Rotella or a mix of both between all of those. Went 25 miles the other way to Bomgaars and they had barely enough.Hammer166, bzinger, Rideandrepair and 5 others Thank this.

One thing that I’ll caution you on is that you’ll have a lot of splash when the oil hits the pan. I’d put down some old newspapers or grab a few hands full of truck paper at the truck stop.Rideandrepair, MOBee, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 4 others Thank this.
