What is a CAT 1808 high efficiency filter? I buy my oil and fuel filters from CAT by the case when they are on sale. Buy one at a time and you'll always pay full price. Go get a full pm truck and trailer at a Petro or typical OTR shop with CAT filters and I doubt you get it done under $300.

Actually it's a 1r1808 HE oil filter. It's normally priced about $10.00 higher than a 1r0716.

I can't remember the part numbers off the top of my head for my oil and secondary fuel. One of them has a 49. The 1808 does not ring a bell. My primary filter is a screen inside a canister that you clean and re-use.

1ro749, cat fuel 2 micron, old paccar applications had the screen filter applications for the primary.

the 1808 is a higher grade cat filter, and I am like ih branded , our cats shops don't give any or very little buying a case

and if ya bring in your own filters you can get a pretty good deal also -
I sometimes do my own oil changes but where I live they want 50-60 bucks for the pm kits plus 70 a pail for oil at a wholesaler. There's 200 right there. They will take the old oil back though. I've priced around and have never gotten a better deal from cat either. Nowadays I don't change fuel filters until they need to be. Thats twice a year for me and a single oil filter is still 20-30 bucks. The one good thing is that you always find small things and repair them yourself. Those add up at the shop.

Thompson has sales on filters once in a while. I guess it depends on the franchise. As far as oil you just have to keep your eyes peeled. Any given month it might be Tractor Supply, NAPA, Rush, MHC, Wal Mart or whoever with whatever brand 15w40 on sale for $50 a bucket. I bought 30 buckets on sale several years ago. When that was gone I got another 10 here recently.
