This afternoon i changed both filters the big and small with compatible filters on my 2016 7509. I think I made a mistake by not filing the filters with hydro fluid prior to screwing them in. I believe I have air in the system. Am using the electric back up only. My pto needs a new pump. The electric pump runs and the pressure is intermittent. The cylinders will go up for a second then stop. Also I noticed alot of water in the system. What's causing this stop and go and how do I purge the system to remove all air andwater. I've pressed the little ball on the quick connects while running the pump and water and air comes out. Am afraid I will burn the pump if I continue trying to purge the system. Is there anything else I can do to get the pump running continuously. Thank you and stay safe.
CHANGED MY HYDRAULIC FILTERS NOW ZERO PRESSURE

I change both my filters every year before cold weather and have yet to have water in my system. My mechanic told me problems he has encountered on rigs that don’t routinely change the filters and come really cold weather the problems surface. I never pre-fill the filters and with a full hydraulic tank it quickly operates smoothly.

What part of the country do you operate in?

Doubt you have water in the system. Lots of trapped air in oil will foam up and look like water contamination. Let the oil settle for a few hours and look in the tank. If the oil looks good and isn't milky then it's most likely just air. If there is actually water in the system enough to make the oil foamy then you need to drain and flush the whole system and replace the filters again.
Are the filters on the pump inlet or the return back to the reservoir?NightWind Thanks this. -

I forgot to mention that the hydraulic tank did overflow.

The pump now makes a high pitch sound. When the pressure kicks in the sound goes back to normal.

Yeah if you're getting air into the system the tank can foam up and overflow. That squeal from the pump is the bubbles in aerated oil getting compressed and imploding. Not very healthy for the pump.
Based on what you're describing it sounds like the system is sucking in air on the inlet side. If your filters are indeed on the inlet side of the pump and all worked fine before you changed them I'm willing to bet the filters aren't sealing correctly.rolls canardly, NightWind and Hammer166 Thank this. -
