One time I picked up a load of their wheeled tool chests out of their Iowa factory. Each one was $24000. That's literally the price of a decently equipped new car, for a stupid metal box on tiny wheels. That's when I figured out that snap-on is a weird cult / status symbol.

my lower tool chest(rollaway) and top box, measured about 6 feet long (each).
total cost was under $5.000 back then -
When that's how you make your living every day they're nice, it'd better be a pretty nice living though.

Either that or it's tax time and you are realizing that you made too much and your family's health insurance is about to go way up, so you need a quick tax write off...
-
They're not for the average penny pincher that's for sure.

Well after you just put the tire on with the cheap torque wrench then go down the road, a tire comes off the truck bouncing into a car, it is a lot cheaper than the lawyers fees, the court costs and the settlement you make, this is a lot cheaper.
-
OK, you might have a point about a proper torque wrench - that's a safety critical item (which I can't justify spending a grand on, so I will have TA double check).
The $1000 torque multiplier is just silly tho -
Pretty much all it is. I make just as much with my "inferior" tools. In 12 years I can count on 1 hand the number of tools I've busted that are "cheap" tools. Maybe 30-40 years ago Snap On really were better but these days its the same crap at twice the price.PermanentTourist Thanks this.

Exactly. I just buy decent Craftsman for stuff I use a lot, and harbor freight cheapo chinese stuff for things I use once a year, like this wheel switching operation.Last edited: Jun 28, 2021
