Lets say I have a delivery appointment for wednesday at 1100 hours. If I'm going to be there by Tuesday at say 0800, can I call the customer and get a delivery time change? I know this is a no for Costco and Walmart loads, as well as mid HD and Lowes loads, and food warehouses. But what about others? Or MUST I go through my DM and planning?

Now with that being said, I have called myself and asked. If they have an open spot they will usually change it no problem. I have even changed a Wal-Mart load to deliver 2 days early before. You could always play dumb trucker and show up early. That works sometimes too.
Do you need to get a reset in? Run hard to get there then get a reset, deliver, and have a full 70 to work with after is a good strategy. -
No don't need a reset, just curious. I am currently on a load that I pick up tomorrow but does not deliver until 5 am Monday due to customer being closed on the weekend. I was just wondering for future reference. I have run into the situation that was me asking for a change of delivery time and no effort being made to change it. I am not a fan of that, but it is what it is. Thanks again.

I don't know about where you drive, but I usually just call the consignee for my guys and see if they'll take an early delivery. Many times they are happy to as they are happy to have the material to sell a day earlier than anticipated.

What is Mays layover pay rate? I have some coming and want to know what to expect.
Dozzer -
$50 per day
Layover =24 hrs from empty call to loaded call
Be careful though, if your empty miles to the shipper equal more than $50, you will most likely NOT receive layover pay even though your loaded call is 24 hrs past your last empty call. I found out the frustratingly hard wayDozzer6 Thanks this. -
I had a breakdown going into Spokane. Sat for 36 hours on breakdown and then three days due to the change of delivery times and no ability to repower. I asked my DM to look at getting me compensated in some way for the extra time beyond breakdown. I would have delivered and been on my way had I not had the problem with the truck and it was not due to any negligence of mine. She agreed and took care of me getting me a couple of days of layover and a day of breakdown.

I have a question, the other day i had a load from usk WA to riverside CA and my appt was for 630am i got there on time and the unloader told me my appt wasnt till 400pm. I was very polite about this and then was told to talk to boss at 8 so i did and he said that the planner or cs had changed appt to 4 . My dispatcher didnt even know it. So i had to wait till 4, question is do i get paid for those hours sitting or no

Your appointment time was 1600, so, you wouldn't start seeing detention time until after 2000
You could try and make an argument for it, as nobody was aware of your appointment time being changed, but...good luck
Sucks they wouldn't unload 'early'
I try to get to 'appointments' as early as possible (usually 8-12 hours when possible) and most are pretty good about fitting you in.
