What do I need to change FLS/FTS codes myself? Would like to experiment with a few. This would be for an 06 NXS 625hp Acert.OEM ecm.Currently has FLS -28,FTS 8.Perf Spec OK-5942.

I'd say officially it cant be done without Cat ET and factory passwords, but there may be others out there who know how to hack into the ECM and change things without a factory password.....anyone?

Cat dont let you change FLS and FTS to settings other than factory settings, they will not give you the password if you are trying to change to non factory fuel settings( BTW the password changes so you never use the same password twice ). There are two ways around this, a Cat tech with PAR password clearance, or clever Cat techs will know a back door way to get around the problem but its a complicated way to do it and most who know wont talk about how to do it for fear of Cat closing the loop hole.

Cat ET is actually quite easy to find on the net if you spend some time looking, you can usually find all but the current version, you wouldn't need the latest version anyway, it's the comm adaptor (cable and box that goes between the computer and truck) that is the hard part to find cheap, Cat charges over $2000 for one out here, probably would be cheaper in the US though.

My local CAT shop quoted me $1500.00 for the software and $1000.00 for the cable. He also told me I wouldn't be able to change the HP and I wouldn't be able to do the cylinder cutout test. Also $1000.00 per year for software updates optional. If I remember correctly the cost went up if I wanted to use it for multiple trucks.

Not sure which version they were quoting, I know customer ET ( the only version you are supposed to be able to buy from a dealer ) can do cutout tests and will work on any truck or machine but cannot change horsepower or unlock parameters and can only change some parameters.
